Questions & Mysteries Why is Shiliew constantly brought up as this Top Tier swordsman that could kill Mihawk?

#44
Several detractors of Mihawk insinuate the guy will get killed by this nobody for supposedly lacking feats, how he only has his title etc when literally the same shit applies to Shiliew to an even greater degree. Shiliew literally has NO feats to speak of. He killed some fodder in Impel Down, potentially killed Absalom, and is said to be Magellan lvl.

What the hell am I missing? Is it just that he got on Blackbeards crew? Story logic says he can't be a total bitch since his eventual fight against Zoro needs to be at least semi-interesting, but where does the "he will kill Mihawk" shit come from? Did I miss some SPS where Oda calls him a great swordsman like Mihawk somewhere? Or is it honestly just the sort of bullshit logic some people use where since Mihawk "trained" Zoro they can no longer fight? Because newsflash people, Oda won't write out the fight he set up almost over 1000 chapters ago between Mihawk and Zoro just to instead make him lose off-screen to some no feat bad guy just so the "tension" could be a bit higher.

Zoro never killed any of his swordsmen opponents anyway. All his kills are no-names / off-screened, so why anybody thought his battle with Mihawk would be different even before the time-skip is a mystery to me. Sure they will go all out, and "anything can happen" but let's be fucking real alright? Oda was never killing him either way.
Simple they dont want zoro to fight mihawk because they are scared
Their mihawk yc level agenda is done since zoro got big feats and hype + coc
Mihawk fight comes after zoro defeats king shiryu and an admiral

He wont. It is not necessary.
There are no Kaido's level of durability people walking around and Zoro doesnt have it either.

Is there anyone who thinks he isnt a top tier? :crazwhat:
Zoro obviously has it or he wouldn't be able to scar kaido. wtf are you talking about?

Zoro didnt hit Kaido with a haki blast, he attacked him with his swords and Kaido went "oh shit you have conquerors haki". that means its coated. zoros been using ryuo for longer than luffy has anyway.

I am talking about Shiryu not having CoC. Regarding Zoro, he didnt use it ever so far either but he eventually will.
No, the damage was high enough that Kaido thought it was due to CoC but it wasnt. Zoro was simply powerful enough.
Well, yes, Ryo is nothing new for Zoro since Alabasta...

Mihawk could also help Shanks against Teach directly if Teach gets something really powerful :

seems he was going to try to steal this so called "reward" from the Marines , either Pluton in Alabasta or one of the Warlords , i'm leaning towards Pluton .

meanwhile Shiryu can fight Beckmann .
Mihawk has no plot to fight Teach
Yonko vs Yonko,

He will fight Shiryu

And what feats has Mihawk? Asking for a postponement against Vista and go after some randoms? Or attacking Luffy without any sense and failing? Or being stopped by Crocodile who run like a bitch from a guy equal to Shiryu in strength?:milaugh:

Shiryu is EoS material since he joined the great antagonist of this manga, Marshall D. Teach, the polar opposite of Luffy the main character >> a nonsense WSS who didnt fight any relevant swordsman aside from Vista in 12 years, stayed in GL and sometimes was pursuing fodders like Don Krieg and with less hype than Kurohige preYami Yami since he couldn't scar Shanks like the current Yonko :suresure:

So yeah, he could kill Mihawk perfectly (though ofc that won't happen). Kurohige will be the strongest opponent Luffy ever will fight, so Shiryu can be Admiral lvl char easily since he is the second strongest in that crew without doubt.
Well Mihawk has portrayal rather than feats.

After all what feats does Fujitora have that put him on that absurd level? But it's well renowned how potent he is.

Okay so there's a few reasons to believe it. I certainly don't, because Mihawk is the entire point of Zoro's character existing. To undercut Mihawk would be a bold move from Oda and would have a very difficult time working out. IMO, if Oda wanted to subvert Zoro's end goal, he'd of spent more time on flashbacks between Mihawk and Zoro by now. Showcase that the full extent of their master/mentor relationship.

But as to why some people believe it and why people gas Shiryuu up as very strong...

Shiryuu was said to be the equal to Magellen back in Impel Down but even more lethal. Meaning, an encounter with Shiryuu is likely to kill you rather than an encounter with the poison man. Which is pretty nuts in and of itself.

Then you gotta remember what Magellen's purpose was—keeping every prisoner in line, including the Level 6 prisoners. When the likes of Jinbe, Crocodile and Ivankov would rather run away from you then fight you, ya know you're tough shit. Albeit they were on a time table and had to escape, I'd say take a look at the Rooftop.

Sulong Dukes could stomp Jack the Drought in a second. So in a group effort, the fact Jinbe, Crocodile and Ivankov considered that defeating Magellen would take too much time or the fact they might not of thought they could win is nuts. Even Ivankov alone, who was unafraid of Kuma, was defeated soundly against Magellen.

The final reason is that Teach's crew is the dark reflection of Luffy's. Shiryuu shares a common backstory with Zoro, both rescued by their captains from marine imprisonment and certain death. And that indicates, like Zoro, Shiryuu is going to be a cut above the rest of his crew. A real monster that usually gets compared to Luffy with remarks such as "And he's not the captain!?"

So yeah, 100% can see why some people would think Shiryuu is capable of killing Mihawk. He's not going to be another scrub.
