yes he is..., he keeps butting in and cockblocking people from fighting. Like i said, he travelled all the way to whitebeard just to tell him to not let ace go after blackbeard. He did that because he didnt want a war to happen. Ace became a pirate to live freely and make whatever choices he wanted with no regrets. Ace chose to go after blackbeard, shanks had no business trying to butt in, so no, he didnt "respect his freedom" at all. And then he goes to marineford to stop the war. So no, he isnt just a "chill guy" that only does something if someone hurts his friends. Clearly shanks goes out of his way to stop conflict wherever he can. He even went to wano just to stop greenbull from attacking. The guy is acting like a superhero. If you enjoy that then fine thats you're opinion. i dont enjoy it at all
Shanks did that because he saw how dangerous Blackbeard truly was before anyone else truly took him seriously

Shanks understands that, deep down, Blackbeard is potentially more dangerous in the long run than any of the four emperors or even the World Government.
And in the end, Shanks was proven 100% right when Ace died as a direct result of trying to go after Blackbeard

Does hate for one piece make you read words differently than normal people, this has nothing to with quality of writing I was calling him pathetic because he was attacking oda as person ,some no body on the internet saying his head cannon version of oda doesn't succeed except for that oda is at the top of the mountain for manga because of the sales so his extremely successful, ill say it again don't bring up quality of writing because that post had nothing about writing.

Dadan would hear that ace almost killed people in town and then when she asked ace about it he replied with "almost? i thought they were dead", because he was actually literally trying to kill them. And this is ace as a child, not even a pirate yet. And those people werent even directly insulting ace, they were insulting roger without knowing that was his dad. In kids case, those civilians were insulting kid directly, not his dad. So pirate Eustass kid is no more "evil" than child ace. Neither Kid or Ace would stand for disrespect and both characters a much more worthy of being called a pirate than superhero shanks
Ace was a shitty child with a lot of issues, yet he grew up into a decent person after wb took him in.
Kid stayed a piece of shit for his entire life. Either way kid was never important to the story himself, he was a tool to help ensure that the raid was a success and make sure shanks who is important to the story was able to easily obtain some poneglyphs.

He attempted to murder the Kid pirates and he probably succeeded in killing most of them.
Shanks isn’t really a “good person”. He’s just good from a pirate perspective. He’s as righteous as you can be as a pirate, a romanticized version of a pirate.
But he still kills people even though he has zero reason to do so. He didn’t need to sink the Kid Pirates’ ship. They already admitted defeat and gave up their poneglyphs.
Shanks is dirty like any other pirate. It’s just he only targets people if they’re “in the game” to quote Mike Erhmantraut.
