Croc is fodder to Mihawk
Even in that meeting Croc was speaking in line he knew his place
It was mihawk who made the decisions not Croc

In no way was that meeting a show of equals.
And again you're skirting over the fact they can't even hurt king.
He ain't. There's a significant gap in strength but Croc is still strong enough for Mihawk to respect him. Mihawk only respects strength, he doesn't give a fuck about how smart Croc is. Look how Buggy is treated, great deal in the underworld but treated like a bitch because he's that weak.
Narrative wise Croc has far more logical reasons to be above King. Power levels get inflated. YC1 level is nothing now, it's the new requirement to be relevant as a fighter.

"Tanking" is not what was shown. Zoro hit him three times or so in flameless mode with Adv CoC attack and that was Kings end. Logically the two attacks before that greatly hurt him.
Both Doffy and Croc use cutting attacks as well which is already convenient for them.
Aramaki destroyed them using roots+CoA. Both Doffy and Croc use similar attacks to Aramaki plus Croc has his water draining hax.

He didn't tank it. Tanking is like Kaido who is suffering no damage. The seraphim tanked Sanji's Kick. King was enduring that attack.
