Questions & Mysteries Why top tiers can't turn their blades black?

#41
The problem is that Yoru was never ment to show that Black Blades were the end all. One Piece wasnt supposed to be this long back when chapter 50 came out.

Oda retconned the Black Blade to be something swordsman can strive for.
Actually no, the moment Oda thought about Warlords is when One piece stopped having to be so short

People seem to misunderstand what Oda was talking about... Oda said in an interview that the original plan for one pipiece was for it to be short... thats it... This means this was Oda's plan from like Chapter 1 or even before chapter 1 since Oda says he knew how one piece would end years before he even got serialised.

But from when he decided to add the Warlords is when he knew his original plan for five years wasn't gonna work... Meaning He literally could've decided to add the Warlords even as early as chapter 2 or who knows when... But the fact is, by the time Mihawk showed up, the warlords were already a thing in Oda's mind and he has said that one idea for warlords is the major reason the story is so long...

And I didn't say that Black blades are a thing swordsmen strive for, in fact I'm sure they aren't... I just said when a swordsman reaches the WSS level is when they get black blades... As in black blades are like what show that you are a contender to be WSS and really only Zoro and Mihawk ever wanted that

The 3 things Ryuma, Mihawk and Zoro have in common is the drive to be best swordsman and that is what others lack.
Ryuma was looking for swordsmen he could fight, Mihawk was doing the same and Zoro is no different.
While CoC is a predisposition to be a king, Kokuto means being a king(of swordsmen) or worthy to challenge the king. :catrude:

Your wrong. It was around Alabasta that Oda realized he had to expand One Piece. These are his own words. You are inaccurate

Theres ZERO mention of Alabasta

Oda just says his ORIGINAL plan was 5 years and the creation of the Shichibukai in his mind is what made him abandon this

The first Shichibukai arrived in chapter 50. So by default he thought about the Shichibukai before chapter 50 therefore he had abandoned the five year plan along time before Alabasta

You sure about the black blade retcon thing? Because Mihawk tells Zoro that he’ll cut him down with “this black blade, the finest in the world”. The fact that it’s specifically referred to as a black blade makes me think it was always intended to be something Zoro would achieve on his journey to be the best

The Warlords weren’t introduced as a group until Luffy and Sanji are going towards Arlong Park - Mihawk and Jimbei were the first mentioned as Warlords (there’s only 4 panels between the Mihawk reveal and the first time Jimbei is name dropped).

I think it's because guys like Rayleigh and Shanks simply think of their swords as a tool and nothing more. Zoro treats his swords like they're an extension of himself. Almost like they're sentient beings that require respect.

Rayleigh/Shanks are probably not as dedicated or attached to their blades. Mihawk is probably more in line with Zoro, almost worshipping his blade (Zoro gave his sword a proper burial ffs).

I would assume Oden is of a similar mould so it's interesting that he didn't turn his blade black. Perhaps telling of how difficult a task it is even for the most dedicated swordsman.

I just don't think Shanks or Rayleigh are as dedicated, not that they aren't "strong" enough to achieve it, they're portrayed as haki monsters. But it means a lot that even they haven't done it. This likely means it's too difficult of a task to pull off if your focus isn't completely on achieving it, and for them it might not be worth the trouble of even focusing on, as they can get results in their own manner by focusing in other areas (CoO, CoC, and other implementations of CoA).

They don't have Mihawk's mastery of Haki. Most Yonkos are freaks of nature, including Blackbeard who can eat multiple DFs. Mihawk is a Haki master, surpassing even Shanks.

Only other guy to achieve this feat, was a legendary fighter hundreds of years ago.

It's funny how Oda snuck this up on Everyone

Like everyone keeps asking what feat exactly proves someone is WSS and it's been hiding in plain sight since chapter 50
He literally said it's the world strongest blade... It wasn't really hiding. It was just people ignoring it.

I think to make a blackblade is not only about haki but also need a cursed blade. And maybe its like xianxia thing, need a strong will and kind of intent

Straight wishful thinking but you present it in a way that a bozo might not see that it’s straught bullshit
You think so? I think it's wishful thinking to believe Shanks and Rayleigh, two top tiers presented as haki specialists, who are top tiers precisely because of their haki mastery, apparently don't have adequate enough haki control or mastery. Read that last bit out loud so you know how ridiculous it sounds, now imagine believing something as brainless as that, now imagine that person is you right now lmao.
