Theory Why Zoro will beat Shanks

If you didn't say Luffy would fight Ben Beckman it would be more believable lol. The only way I could see it happening was if Luffy was hesitant to fight Shanks, and then Zoro fought him instead to solidify the idea that Luffy's crew is a cut above the rest and worthy of being the PK's crew if even their #2 guy can beat the captain of a Yonko crew. I don't see it being a whole crew versus crew thing.
I understand this being laughable and it probably will continue to be laughable unless it actually happens. However, the whole Mihawk/Shanks thing makes me feel like Zoro may have to prove that he is better than both of them, not just Mihawk. If Zoro is only shown to have surpassed Mihawk, there would still be doubt about whether or not he is actually the WSS now. At least in the community's eyes. Oda claiming in the VC that Mihawk is waiting for someone "to surpass even his rival Shanks" is important. It's specifically calling out Shanks as a goalpoast for measuring how close Zoro is to becoming the WSS. In One Piece, surpassing someone strength-wise has mostly been demonstrated by defeating them in 1v1 combat, as indicated by Luffy's statements throughout the series. How would we know that Zoro has surpassed Shanks if he never got to fight him?
That said, it would still be weird. It's kind of the same as ZKK where the narrative purpose makes sense but the perceived execution would be Zoro overshadowing/outshining Luffy which Oda has specifically stated is something he doesn't really want anyone to do

Ok, I know it will be an awesome bout if it happens, but, unless Shiryu somehow surpass Shanks, Zoro vs Shiryu will be underwhelming as hell to the point where an acceptable replacement during the Raftel fight would be Zoro vs Aokiji, whereas we don't even know if Aokiji is that committed to BB's crew.
Besides, I thought Zoro is gonna sit an arc or two out prior to BB's due to mink drug after ZKK?

This is the only way Zoro vs Shanks can happen, I agree, and that means we got another Zoro vs Apoo/Hawkins/Killer in Zoro vs Shiryu where Zoro mid-diffs or outright destroys Shiryu after his hax is found out before moving on to vs Shanks (only because there is no way Zoro can beat Shanks solo if Zoro is too heavily injured). Which means the PK title match would be decided in a three-way battle royals ala the one we saw in Skypiea (interestingly an arc where Zoro beat 2 opponents in Braham and Ohm, too).
Coincidentally, this is also the scenario where I could see BB killing Shanks via a quake punch after Zoro beats Shanks decisively, because every scenario of BB killing Shanks that I have ever seen made it look like BB could escape Shanks with little damage and that would fuck up powerscaling permanently, whereas killing a Shanks beaten by Zoro prevents any damage toward powerscaling.
And if Zoro gains FS in his short bout with Shiryu before going to Shanks, that means his win against Shanks is believable since that means all 3 Adv Haki vs all 3 Adv Haki.
