It's pretty damn hard to predict because they are some sort of allies now. I don't think Luffy would jump in to fight him just after he mentions that he still wants Shank's head but Luffy would definitely warn him that he will be his roadblock for this.
I said it in some other post before that I think Shanks didn't like intentionally cut off Kidd's arm but made an example for him literally showing him the hard way what pirate in the new world looks like which is different to how he showed it to Luffy.

Or we just need to stop assuming that Shanks is a "nice" pirate lol. Roo quite literally murdered a bandit in chapter 1 like it was nothing. Something has been clearly off with Shanks since he has met with the Gorosei lol.

I didn't say that Shanks is a "nice" pirate but on the other hand, I can't imagine him murdering fodders just because they yelled that they will kill him. He just showed Kidd the hard way what is the life of a New World pirate and that his decisions will cost him heavy if they are wrong or just bad.

Loool since when is shanks so weak that he needs luffys protection against kidd? Lmao.

And let's assume for a second that kidd>shanks. And killer>beckmann (lol)
Shanks has many named members in his crew, who are likely monsters themselves while kidd has no one decent...

So sorry but this is just dumb...

And if you mean that luffy will go after kidd without shanks even knowing, luffy wouldn't do something like this, which disrespects shanks and his crew...

I agree Kidd is a trash character

Sorry that wasn't an attack on you, just generic. But tbh, I think Oda wants us to assume a lot about Shanks and give him the benefit of the doubt because we know so little about him. Him meeting the Gorosei however changed everything for me.

Those men kill and purge to preserve order. They promote genocide and slavery. They are Tenryuubito themselves. For Shanks to simply talk to them about a certain pirate (at this point it's obviously not Blackbeard considering how hidden Oda is being about who it is) is a major red flag to his character.

Yeah, that f'd me up a bit especially that I loved how Shanks was portrayed. I don't think he is evil but he is this kind of Good evil? Evil good? I mean he might possibly sacrifice a town or two if this grants peace in the world for some time. I hope we are wrong and Shanks is not an asshole.

That's my thought on it. I think Shanks is "good" but teeters on the morally grey side of things. To me, I think he believes in Luffy but he and Luffy may entirely have different ideals on how to achieve their goals for example.

To me this would also make him a great "antagonist" if Oda decides to go that route with the character. Imagine Luffy misunderstanding his respect for Shanks or Shanks misunderstanding Luffy's beliefs. I could see a very emotional conflict spawning from that.

I'd even go as far to say he could be the final "antagonist" or battle, circling the plot back to chapter 1 and Luffy surpassing his mentor. He has a small group of pirates just like Luffy and BB. Add to the fact that Mihawk technically has to be Zoro's final battle and could partner with Shanks for that exact reason. Idk, I'm part of the minority with this thought so who knows.

I would die out of hype if this turns the way you think. Jeez, Luffy vs Shanks finals showdown for their ideals. WOW

Ehh, Zoro vs Killer already happened(Don't give me that nerfed nonsense, at worst they both were), and the rest of Kid's crew doesn't stand a chance against the rest of the Strawhats. I guess Luffy and Kid could still fight, but it feels hollow if it's not an all out crew battle.
