Every character that has those eyes were either immortal and/or very old, couple that with the fact that mihawk's whole theme is around vampires/goth stuff, i wouldn't put it past oda to do it.
Maybe go for Half-Half breed logic.
Like recent bucanneer, they are strong as hell but still not as huge as giants and live for 100s of years.
Mihawk could be result of one. Amassing all the strength of Vamp/Dracula but lives for am average human life span.

Not about the race, but rather the layered eyes

No, Mihawk is now part of Buggy’s gag. He exists to serve the gag now.

Buggy will walk into a place and do something stupid and only not die because Mihawk is behind him and then by random chance the stupid thing buggy did will luckily give Cross guild some random clue to finding one piece.

I guarantee you, Mihawk will not lift a finger from now until his fight with Zoro, both because he doesn’t have to since the Buggy gag will ensure gag logic will carry cross guild to laugh tale and Oda does not want to waste any strong fighters on a relatively inconsequential character like Mihawk

Oda removed Mihawk’s ability to actually affect the plot by having him subservient to a gag because the alternative is to have mihawk fight someone and Oda CANNOT have Mihawk win or lose. Mihawk can’t win because mihawk doesn’t matter to the story so the win will Be a waste of time. And Mihawk can’t lose because Oda can’t justify Zoro’s story if Mihawk lost to anyone but Zoro

He matters to the story bc he trained one of the MC and is buddy with another top tier

The story of one piece is the story of good vs evil. It’s freedom vs authoritarianism. It’s Destiny, inherited will.

where does Mihawk fit into any of the above? Is Mihawk a champion of freedom? No, he willingly worked for the WG. Is he a champion of authoritarianism, no, he’s own working for buggy.

Is Mihawk a good guy? Not really, he’s destined to have a a life and death match with one of the MCs and he doesn’t care that potentially killing Zoro could be bad for the world since Zoro is on the pirate king crew. Is Mihawk a bad guy? Not really since the story has never created a moral reason he should be defeated

is Mihawk connected in anyway to the Destiny piece? Nika lore? Ancient kingdom lore? Df lore? The will of D? The one piece? No, no no no no… It’s Buggy that’s connected to the One piece and mihawk is carried along by Gags

In another manga with another author something very interesting could be done with this. A character directly placed outside of the machinations of the plot everyone else is embroiled in. But this is One piece, and this is Oda. Plot is KING in One piece and Mihawk being the most powerful character DIRECTLY unconnected to any plot means Mihawk is the most powerful USELESS character in the story.

that’s why Oda is fine having Mihawk be a gag subordinate to Buggy, in no world would Oda do this to any other top tier, no admiral, or Yonko would ever be made a gag under Buggy. Even The gag Big mom wouldn’t be out through this because at least she wants the one piece so she matters to the plot.

Spitting the Truth.

When you are making a world-level conflict between hero and villains that will decide the world.

You don't have extremely powerful characters laying around.

What normally happens is that they either take a side or.... Go " this don't matter to me" and they refuse to partake.

Oda can't make Mihawk take a side because Mihawk don't care, Oda can't make Mihawk not participate because he needs to fight Zoro.

Thus Buggy eill be the one that push Mihawk to plot.

Mihawk can't neither lose to anyone not Zoro, nor he can defeat anyone relevant that is not Zoro because Oda loses one more character he can use to hype.

Mihawk paradox

I believe you got the aesthetics, part right, Mihawk was created first before imu and zunisha so the intention of being a connection between them is unlikely.

Tbf he currently does have greater ambitions. They just so happen to be him sharing the ambitions of others
First it was crocodile’s utopia plan and now buggy’s one piece dream
