Could have gave him all 3 or at least 1 haki advanced and awakened his df. With the story of he trained under garp and sengoku over the time skip and didn't want to be a admiral so he could keep chasing luffy like garp chased roger. He doesn't need to be as strong as luffy be strong enough to challenge him and make it a hard fight even if he didn't win. But yea I agree smoker is smoked in the story. Unless oda ties him into a backstory for a arc.

What are you arguing about. Lucci wasn't meant to be a threat to the sh's but a bench mark to show how much they grew even with the world growing to. The point is smoker would have been used better imo if he was made to be a threat to luffy like garp was a threat to Roger to keep chasing him as a secondary antagonist. Luffy having a God df doesn't mean nobody can be close to him. If oda gave Lucci all 3 adhaki the fight would have been much harder and luffy would be pushed to his limit or even lost because of time limit. Luffy having a great df has 0 baring on what I'm saying.
Dude do you even understand what the point is? Smoker isn't more aligned with luffy. He's closer than akainu than luffy he just isn't as extreme. If he was strong enough he put all the sh's in jail right now if he could. Oda reintroducing him so early and he doesn't have luffy growth rate post time skip basically eliminates him from the story as he's no threat. Smokers relevance to the story is based on his strength. Him being so weak compared to luffy is why no body thinks he's showing up anytime soon as he 0 threat to luffy. Yea once the truth of the world is revealed he'll side with luffy and the good marines against imu and the bad ones but that's eos. You don't understand what I'm saying and just keep making separate points. Smoker could have had more relevance to the story if he was introduced later closer to luffy than he is now. Since he wasn't he has very little relevance because he is nothing to luffy and only serves as a good marine eos. If he wasn't he could have been a reoccurring secondary antagonist that was chasing the sh's keeping him relevant in the story always in the background. You are trying to make this something it's not and that smoker needed to beat luffy or something which isn't what I'm saying in the slightest. If you can't understand what I'm saying just leave it. Smoker relevance is how strong he is and able to be a threat to luffy since he wants to catch him. Since he to weak his only relevance will be eos when its luffy side vs imu side being a good marine. When the Marines clash with the Yonko probably. Either next arc or one after. Its been built up and last we saw him he was getting ready to meet up with Tashigi again after dropping the kids off with her at the base near Egghead. I dont think the Marines are going to be entirely separate anymore as they have been and we'll see the full force mobilize under Akainu very soon, especially after Garp's capture and I feel somehow they'll get headwind that one of the Yonko has all 4 RPs.
