I would recommend you trying Mistborn trilogy. The magic system is amazing. The story has a "what if an evil overlord already won" premise. Technically, you can finish only the first book and not read further if it's not your thing, because the 1st book can be read as a standalone and it has satisfying enough ending.
I will put it on my list, maybe it will be the next thing I will try after my current things I read, is the first book called „The final empire“?

Same, it would be wasted if he doesn’t help in the fight. Plus imo he should be the one who should defeat him and not Nona. Especially because I think he will join them as main character, so it’s his character arc.

I also wonder what kind of role Belator will play in this fight and in this arc.

The chances that he will die are not so high anymore imo.

What do you think?

Yep, starts with The Final Empire. I can check if I still have it somewhere.

For now this author delivers, so I hope for a good thing.

Belator's chances to live are rising, also we need a closure on his family. Still think they're witches.

As for his role rn - probably not much.

Ah okay, nice, thx ^^

Same

I think that too and I also believe that he will not have a major role anymore in this arc.

But what I could image is that he will become the sensei/master of the three?

What do you think or maybe rather what do you hope how many characters will be part of the main cast? Only the three of them? Maybe four with Belator or Gheer later?

And yes Raloud is ready to fight him. Time to defeat Gheer:steef:

Favorite current manga or overall?
So far current favorite, it's very difficult to topple FMA and Eyeshield21:)

FMA and Eyeshield 21 nice :BigW:

Two good series.

It's interesting that Eyeshield is one of your favorite ones. A real underrated manga and anime :(

It's a good manga and the anime was nice too. From the sport mangas/animes I read and watched, it was one of the best ones. But this was a long time ago.

How comes, that Eyeshield is your favorite one with FMA?

Eyeshield21 is a comfort read for me. I love the Devilbats (hey, they're the reason for my nickname here), I loved the from zero to hero story for Sena and his peers, I loved how unpredictable is sometimes was with the team losing, the camaraderie between the sportsmen, all of it was great. I wasn't happy with the word championship ending, but other than that - chef's kiss. I even remember watching actual bits of amefuto plays on YouTube after reading the manga, and I've never been a fan of the sport. The story is just that good.

Now, FMA is more tragic, that's why I don't re-read it, but I've been planning to watch the anime. I just remember that when I was reading it, I was blown away by its genius.

I knew it that your nickname was from somewhere I know, I only could not remember from where it was.

I see and I agree, the Story of the Manga was really well written. I also liked the way they went. Especially Senas development was great. I really loved to watch the anime back and the manga too.

The character development from the others were also really good, like the ones from Senas bullies or that of his childhood friends and his "girlfriend“ and her brother, even though he was annoying sometimes lol

FMA is a special thing among the shonens for me and has a special place in my list. It’s different from the others and one of the best ones. :BigW:

If you never watched the anime then you should also watch the first anime, even if it is filler. Imo it’s a good anime, especially if you are interested to see more of other characters and to see more of the alchemy powers overall.

Hiruma, of course. Love that smart devil who actually cares but is hiding it so deep that you can barely notice it. I also liked how the author developed their relationship with Mamori, it's subtle, but it's really telling how in the end they go to the same college together. I especially liked his win against Agon, when his smarts and determination and hard work made him win against the ultra lazy talent.
Sena is also one of my all time favorites, I really loved his growth as a character from a bullied shy kid to a professional sports player. I also liked how he both had talent and accidental training, because I really like when it's not "just talent will always win", and there's also Shin, who trained a lot and also was an amazing player, and still trained more.
I like Raimon-Monta as well, his arcs were incredible, and I still remember his creative save to give the team few seconds back.
Overall, I liked all Devilbats, although Taka was probably the most annoying one of them, lol.
Out of non-Devilbats the most interesting ones are those who ended up training them before the Christmas bowl, like Shin, Kid (the quick draw dude), Sena's childhood friend... Unfortunately, there are only 2 prominent female characters, Mamori and Suzuna, but both of them were great, and in this manga, it made sense for me that there are so few in focus.

Yes! I've been meaning to watch anime since forever. Probably will bump it up on my to-watch list!

Hiruma is really a good character he is my second favorite one, first one is Sena, I like Senas persoanlity and his development was great and he also remembers me of Tsuna from Hitman Reborn. Kurita is the third one on my list. I like his personality. But overall I also liked all of them. And yes Taki was the most annoying one.
But even he has his good moments so like you too, I also like all of them.

Only thing I disliked was that Mamori never found out who Eyeshield 21 really was, until he revealed himself to all people. Maybe she thought about it sometimes, but even then I wish she would have found out his identity by herself. With that she reminds me a little bit of Ran from Detective Conan. A bad taste.

But beside that and the championship ending the manga was really great.

Now I want re watch the anime again and then read the manga again too lol

Yep, it's the manga I re-read the most often, as I said, it's my comfort read.

Agree with Mamori not figuring it out on her own - but in my head I think she kinda figured it sometime later in the manga, but refused to believe it. So that's my headcanon, because Mamori is a very intelligent person and being so oblivious in the beginning is acceptable, but sometime along the way it is very obvious Sena is E21.

But I guess this is the same type of gag as Zoro not being able to find a correct direction.

Did you read Dr.Stone? It's drawn by Boichi, but the storytelling is by Riichiro Inagaki, the same author behind Eyeshield21. I didn't like the BBEG and the ending, but there are a lot of interesting characters and the main character is amazing, overall has a similar feel to Eyeshield21. The ending isn't great though.

I believe that too. But it would still have been nice if we would have a scene where she thought about it at least.

Yeah probably. It’s not even that bad, it was only one of the few things I wanted to be better. But overall it doesn’t make the manga or anime bad or something.

Yes I did, for the most part, the manga was good but I don’t like the ending. . The whole Why-man twist and the travel to the moon was too much and boring.

But overall the manga was good. I also liked the characters a lot. Senku, Gen, Chrome, Kohaku and Xeno are part of my favorites with some others. Tsukasa is good too, but I liked him more when he was a villain.

But imo the combi of the two authors Bouchi and Inagaki is good, they could make a new manga, it would be probably good too.

Do you know if they plan a new manga?

@God_Aizen , new chapter dropped!!

https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1028382

It's huge! 37 pages.

and damn the fight is so fine and so creative! And yeah, seems you're right, Gheer might still be redeemed somehow.
Chapter was good.

Yes the fight is really good and creative. I really like the way how the author draws the battles, the artstyle is good and the way how the battles so far are written is great.

Imo Raloud was naive till the moment where he strikes back. Did he really wanted to die because his "older brother" told him to die?

And Yes, with that chapter I believe it even more that he will be good and join them or at least he will not be an enemy anymore.

Would you prefer that he gets redeemed or that he dies?

Seems like Inagaki partners with different artists, he did Eyeshield21 with Murata, then Dr.Stone with Boichi, then his most recent manga has another artist:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillion_Game

Hmm, it has just ended in Dec'25, maybe I will give it a go. I usually like Inagaki's character portrayal, and Dr.Stone has such a good cast, Senku is ofc amazing, but everyone else as well! Chrome, Kohaku, the old craftsman, legit fun cast. And let's not forget Gin the mentalist, damn he was really cool.

To be honest, Gheer is indeed a PoS to me, so I wouldn't care much if he died. But I see more narrative potential in his redemption arc, and I want to see what mangaka can pull off.

The fight was amazing, but Raloud needs to break his rose-tinted glasses.

Such good fun, it's been a while since I enjoyed a manga on a weekly basis!

Yes Inagaki is really good in this. The cast from Dr. Stone was great Gen was one of the best ones but the others are good too.

Same for me. I would be okay with both ways. But I also see the potential that he can be later a good character and I am also really interested to see how the author will do it and if it will be good or not.

Hell yes, he deserves a hard hit from Raloud

Yep, I am reading a lot fewer manga than I used to. Although, I also don't really want to start another One Piece and I often wait for some interesting titles to end before I pick them up. But WITCHRIV seems interesting!
Kinatos Magic is an interesting read, but I decided to let in marinate a little.

Same, another One Piece I also don’t want.
If there is a manga thats interesting, then I will read it, even if it will have 300 or 400 chapters.

Imo most manga are best to read with that number of chapters. Also if they are longer than 300, imo the first 200-400 chapters are still most the time the best chapters.

This was with Naruto the case, with Bleach and even with One Piece.

But the problem is to find even a good manga these days. Many newer ones were not so interesting or I lost my interest after few chapters.

Kinatos Magic is an interesting read, but I decided to let in marinate a little.
Ah okay I can understand it :)
Well I don’t know how long I will read Kinatos Magic but so far I like it and reminds me a little bit of Fairy Tail^^

But I also have the experience that some shonens need time to be really interesting or good. Like Hitman Reborn. But it still need a good start imo.

Agree, it is indeed difficult to find an interesting manga that is worth your time, and quite often even the ones that are promising in the beginning, can fall off so badly. Like Kaiju #8 seemed cool at first, then became mid. Same with Sakamoto Days. I used to love One Punch Man but now with the redraws and plot changes I am struggling to understand what's going on (and it is drawn by legendary Yuuske Murata, same artist that did Eyeshield21, the art is stellar). All those neo heroes plot just can't keep my attention.

I agree that Naruto & Bleach were best around their midpoint (Pain arc and Hueco Mundo arc respectively). And OP was a lot better pre-TS, so to me it's like first 600 chapters were good. Same with Fairy Tail, it was better in the beginning. Rave is amazing throughout tho. FMA as well.

I have very few mangas I read weekly/biweekly/monthly/whenever they're out:

- OP, mostly because I also hang out on the forum and it's fun to talk to other fans
- FT 100 YQ - but I can't wait for it to end, it is not good at all imo
- Sakamoto Days - also seems to be ending, and I wish it does soon, the main villain is so lame that Dr.Stone one seems like a superb one
- Black Clover - almost ended
- Dead Rock - actually interesting, but I often forget about it as it's monthly
- Daemons of the Shadow Realm - it is also monthly, and I often skip a few months, I like it, but the release schedule makes the wait agonizing
- Chainsaw man - wish I didn't pick up part 2, hopefully it ends next week and I can be free of this disappointment (but I am still invested enough to see it end and then dump)
- Spy x Family - I really enjoy this one, but it's bi-weekly and the chapters are very short
- WITCHRIV - we're kinda spoiled with this one, it's weekly but gets long chapters, and I really enjoy it so far
- Dandadan - I loved it initially, really cool world building and characters are such lovable dorks, but I don't like the current arc. And yes, it was better before it hit 200 chapters, lol.

I kinda like Versus, but it's monthly and has too many characters to follow it monthly. Decided to let it marinate.
I also plan to re-read G.Gray-Man once it ends. I really struggled in following it after the hiatus ended, because of the art change, and I forgot some of the story...

And there's HxH and Vagabond, but both are hiatus/probably never to be finished, so idk if I should put them as "reading".

You're saying Hitman Reborn is good? I couldn't get past first couple of chapters, so I dropped it.

I agree
Kaiju 8 disappointed me a lot....
Somehow the anime is still in hype lol
Sakamoto Days started good, but later it was boring
I never was a fan of OPM because the designs are great but yeah like the name describes it, it's a one shot manga xD

I agree here too
I loved Naruto until the Pain arc and Kage arc and Bleach was the best until Aizens fall.
OP pre TS is also OP best times.

FT was also at his best until the Tartaros arc (even if I still like the S12 and parts of the final arc)

Rave :amazing::blush: still one of the best shonens I have read.

Same with FMA :amazing:

Oh a lot of I am reading too ^^

- OP because yeah I read/watch it since my childhood days and to write about it with others can be fun sometimes^^
- FT 100YQ is imo not so bad, imo most shonens are the same. But the difference for me is that in FT you can see other characters and the enemies especially the servants are good. Something I miss in most other shonens like OP. Thats one of the things I really like about FT and FT100YQ even if some fights and arcs are boring, etc.
- Sakamoto Day I read the manga but I am not up to date because it starts to boring me :/
- Black Clover same reasons, I think only 3-4 chapters are left right?
- Dead Rock, like it too but imo it should be a weekly manga. But I think Mashima doesn't have the time for that because he works on his new manga.
-Daemons of the Shadow Realm is that the new manga of the FMA author?
- Spy x Family it's really enjoyable and Anya is a funny character
- WITCHRIV yes, I agree, one of the best of the new ones
- Dandadan I watched the anime, but didn't have the time to read the manga, but it's on my list

Here is my list
The same you named plus

- Kinatos Magic: remembers me of Fairy Tail
- Shinobi Undercover: A funny manga with a really cool and good artstyle
- The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dgnity: One of the best romance stories I have read so far
- Dealing with the Mikadono Sisters: A funny romance story
- Gachiakuta: I really enjoy the manga but the chapters are often really short
- Make the Exorcists Fall in Love: a monthly manga which is really good written.
- Toilet-bound Hanako-Kun: A shonen I also really like. Good story, characters and art style. Sadly the manga is on hiatus currently.
- 4KoA: the sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins

kinda like Versus, but it's monthly and has too many characters to follow it monthly. Decided to let it marinate.

Never read versus. But I think the anime is or was in hype?

D.Gray-Man is one of the mangas I still read and follow. I really like the story and the characters. But it's hard to wait always 3-4 months for a new chapter :josad:

I think you must wait a long time until the manga will end.

And there's HxH and Vagabond, but both are hiatus/probably never to be finished, so idk if I should put them as "reading".
I like HxH but I dropped it. Because of the many and long hiatus.... :(

You're saying Hitman Reborn is good? I couldn't get past first couple of chapters, so I dropped it.
Yes, the problem with the manga is, that at the beginning the manga was planned to be only a comedy shonen. But later they changed it into a battle shonen. So the "real manga" starts after first 50-60 chapters I believe.

You can try the anime, they make it with the anime better, there you have "only" 19 or 20 episodes. With the second arc after the first 19 or 20 episodes starts the "real anime".

Back during the time when I watched it the first time I was surprised how they changed it after the first arc and I was glad that I watched it until the second arc.
