See this is why the west is in trouble. Too much reliance on money. At the end of the day democracy is about money but autocracies don't just believe in that. China, Russia and India are going to side with each other even if they don't make it seem so. in an actual war they will side but times of peace they will keep it casual.

So Trump was easing sanctions on Russia and gave them more leeway to do what they want. Ukraine joining NATO wasn't likely as Trump didn't care and was more focused on China and isolating America
When Biden took office, those sanctions came back, Russia's economy tanked even more, and Urkraine was on the edge of joining NATO. Russia was obviously pissed while the US fans the flame as China watches.

Not attack just let Russia stop attacking Ukraine. If we are just gonna say "oh nooo but its gonna be war we cant do anything" then we have a lot of problems. This is no excuse.
