I liked Sanji in WCI, i like character struggling with morals, and i liked the way they tried to turn him on Luffy and so on.
But i understand thay many might dislike it, especially for how heavy handed it was.

Sanji didn't struggled at all.

He was sure about his decision until he discovered the truth about Pudding.

Sanji beating Luffy makes no fucking sense.

Tbh no, not at all. It was just another robin 2.0 scenario and thats why it was so bad.

Luffy and the crew were about to kill everyone and their mother to rescue her and Sanji already knew that. He could very well have trust to his captain/crewmates that they will help him and the guys at Baratie if anything happened to them.
