Character Discussion Would you mind if Zoro got CoC?

#41
That remains to be seen, Luffy will 100% master it further like other hakis, it’s his next stepping stone.
D: Luffy's haoshoku haki was able to affect 50,000 men, but how many would Shanks and the others be able to defeat? P.N. Captain Nobuo

O: In exactly the same place and exact same situation as Luffy, Shanks or Rayleigh may have been capable of knocking out all 100,000. In a different setting, you can't really compare just by asking "how many people". Being able to knock an enemy out with haki depends entirely on having an overwhelming power gap between the two. In Luffy's case the point is the number of people that were so weak that they were not even worth him fighting. If there were 100,000 to-some-extent-strong-willed pirates before him, it's possible that he wouldn't even be able to knock out a single one. On a related note, as one's proficiency with haoshoku advances, it's even possible to target a few people in a crowd to NOT knock out.

Nah Man Zoro Shouldn't Have Conquerors Haki, That Goes Against everything That Zoro Stands for me (At least In My mind lol). Zoro for Me is the ordinary Turned Extraordinary Through Effort and Hardwork alone. I dont want him to be bestowed with anything apart from swords. Altho knowing Oda and His love for zoro he might even give him that conq. Haki

This has always been my line of thinking:

If it’s a one-in-a-million ability, it just feels cheap if several others in that excluded 999,999 suddenly unlock the skill. Zoro having it makes sense with his character, but isn’t it much more badass for him to intimidate powerful opponents by reputation and killing intent instead??

But at the same time, let's say one piece has 1 billion of people. There are at least 1000 people who has COC (1 in a million). 1000 is nothing compared to everyone ^^

If a thousand people in the story of OP have CoC, that doesn’t sound needlessly exorbitant to you?? That’s what I’m saying, it feels like we’re just diluting the ability the more we tease it out in the numbers.

But Oda said 1 in a million. Unless One Piece population is around 20 millions, so that means only 20 people.

Compared to 1 billion, not really but of course 1000 in 20 millions, it's too much.

I see where you’re coming from, but it still feels like cheapening what should be the rarest power in the series. It’s exciting when we hear someone like Kid has it, but what good has it done for him on panel? What about his character has been improved with the knowledge that he has Haoshoku? Not saying it would be the worst thing for more people to unlock CoC, but if it doesn’t do anything to enhance our perception of a figure in this story, it’s nothing more than a hat on a hat.

I don't mind Zoro having CoC. It has its proper buildup in the story akin to Luffy's buildup to it. Him having CoC makes sense when you look at it in comparison to Roger's crew.

However, it's not that Zoro shouldn't get it imo. It's that other characters should not have instead. Why do Katakuri and Don Chinjao need it? I get that Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard are all Emperors and stuff but them having CoC felt more like a random power just given to them.

The matter with CoC, is that while yes it is given to Conquerors and whatnot, it doesn't feel rare anymore. The reason why is that with every new villain or character we meet, they suddenly have CoC. From Doffy having it on DR, to Kata and Big Mom on WCI, then Kid and Kaido now on Wano, and potentially Marco and King could have it as well. The specialty of CoC goes lower and lower to the audience because in almost every arc now, we meet a new CoC user.

If something that is super rare and special to the world, we shouldn't be continuously meeting users that got it or else it loses that effect. It won't matter if 1 billion people are in the world and only 1000 people have it. If we end up meeting all those 1000 people throughout the story, then to the viewers, it's not really rare.

Zoro says he will be much stronger with it
Which means much stronger than he was with shishui

"But black blade shishui is more powerful, it is zoro himself who will grow stronger by his own skill not because of mastering enma "
@Zenos7
Name a high tier who unlocked haki for the f

Those 2 don't
Oda has made it clear. Marco couldn't hold the crew together even for 2 years in NW , no wbp has mentioned him having it.
He also has been overpowered by CoC blast before.

Doffy, chinjao and katakuri having it makes sense.
People look up to them... they lead and are the pillars of their crews

Zoro isn't Rayleigh or Oden at all...
Zoro is a loner

coc is yet to do anything anyway
and even if he does get it
doesnt make a major difference
he already intimidates enough people without it
will make a name for himself

on the flipside , folks like ndule will have to beat their own argument if he does , thats the kicker for me.

garp no coc confirmed
teach none confirmed
akainu none confirmed
law none confirmed
I can go on and on.

It was never said he'll become "much" stronger. In the ViZ he said "I'll become that much stronger." There's no indication of how strong he became thanks to the training wheel Enma. You can say he jumped over tiers because of a sword though I don't think so. But regardless if he threw away Enma and picked Shusui back up, his attacks will be stronger since Shusui's heavier and it's a Black Blade. Enma improved his Ryou, the attribute that's internal and will stay with him no matter what weapon he's using.
