If Oda intends for her to be trans he’s done a terrible job and has sent lots of mixed singles. No one is confused about Kiku.
There was definitely confusion about Kiku. Some people weren't convinced until the vivre card, which Yamato doesn't have yet.

Kaido says musuko which is literally son. He absolutely does not consider Yamato to be any iteration of Oden. Other characters do not use feminine pronouns. Oda can say something else later but he has been consistent thus far.

Kaido himself probably has extremely fucked up motives for doing so. I doubt the man goes from being a genocidal maniac who imprisons and beats up his child to a progressive dad lmao

We have done this thread at least a dozen times in the year since she’s been introduced, and it’s been a problem on each occasion. Can we please, PLEASE let this one go? I say that identifying as a specific man does not automatically make one trans; Yamato believes she is Oden incarnate, but it seems like Yamato as Yamato is still female. Her intro box even said “DAUGHTER of Kaido,” and this was after the Yonko himself and several of his subordinates referred to her as his “son.” As long as she claims to be Oden - and God DAMN, every other self-respecting Yamato fan and I all hope that ends soon - she is a male individual, but Yamato the actual person is implied to be female. Someone tag the mods to close this shit before it gets ugly, please :lusalty:

Wait, how is being an antagonist relevant to this topic? What is evil about obliging Yamato?
Because his motive for obliging to Yamato may serve an evil purpose itself. Shit for all we know he may not even be obliging at all.

For example, Doflamingo didn't want to save Law because he was altruistic, he did it because he wanted to use Law as his pawn. The reader has been conditioned to doubt the villains, therefore a villain agreeing with Yamato despite Yamato doing it for his rival is meant to plant seeds of doubt into the heads of the reader.

It's just common sense in writing to always doubt the villain. We usually have to be shown "why" or "how" to confirm what they say or meant
