But in op Death is rare and only there to achieve something not just for the sake of tragedy. like even kyro's wife helped defeat diamanate in the end.

need him? no. did we need pell suriving the nuke? no.
Even in the case of absalom as clear as his death was, oda only did it because moria can make absalom return as zombie. so he is not gone forever.
I hope he isn’t alive...as others have said, it would greatly minimize the impact his death had in this arc. He’s a great character, and I’m excited to see more of him in the flashback, but his martyrdom figures to be the most important thing he does for the alliance.
