IF the merger comes out.
The merger is basically a flesh monster made up of all of Japan's people right?
I have doubts Gege would actually go there.
But if he does, I don't think the Merger would be hax based. It would be a big slow target. Really hard to kill. A super tank. Not like Kaguya or Juubidara or something like that.
At least that's how I see it. I could be wrong obviously.

It was explicitly stated they had plan with this fight against sukuna we and the cast know no one can solo sukuna why are u still persistent with that solo gauntlet lol.
Also people keep underestimating yuji lol not only that he has grow stronger than before he has pysical strength on par with maki on top of have massive cursed energy dont compare him to some bum grade1 like kusakabe and hakari who cant use rct
He is different lv now expect some massive powerup, he is a literal mc against main villain in the final arc lmao, he is closer to the like yuta and kenjaku level. None of the things you brought up change how the fighting has gone so far. So far, Yuji hasn't done more than the "bum grade1 Kusakabe" (Yuji's achievement so far was a last minute distraction that wasn't good enough, while Kusakabe's achievement was shielding Higuruma from the slashes after confiscation failed).
They never planned for Sukuna vs Higuruma, but Yuji kept getting left behind twice (first time he was left behind in a race, the second he was left behind healing) while Sukuna enjoyed Higuruma and we got an experience very close to Higuruma vs Sukuna 1vs1. Did it all happen very fast? Yes, but they were still four chapters of effectively Higuruma vs Sukuna. It does sets the precedent that, if the fight continues like it did the past four to chapters, this would be close to a 1 vs 1 with Yuta. Yes, it can go differently, but the thought of it staying the same for a bit longer shouldn't rile you up. Not with Yuta "staying idle", as you say, but with Yuta being left behind again one way or another.
You can talk Yuji up, I don't disagree. Even Sukuna has acknowledged this chapter Yuji isn't the bum that he thought. I don't even disagree Yuji can be an important factor in the upcoming fight next chapter, everything you're making me argue for is the possibility that he doesn't, which is just as likely.
Now, regarding the "confiscation bs". You can cry about it, but Gege didn't bend anything for Sukuna. The rules of confiscation make perfect sense as they are now, and they were even foreshadowed when Higuruma found out a similar rule mid-fight many chapters ago. Not only does Higuruma only find out about the rules of his technique when he experiences them first in combat, but also reincarnated person or "newborn sorcerer" had cursed tools for Higuruma to find out what confiscation did to them. Confiscation is literally a supernatural method to nerf the "convict" for the fight (yes, Higuruma's power to pass judgement is based on the japanese judiciary system, but it is ultimately a cursed technique who's veredicts are obviously battle oriented, no bailiff comes to take you to jail if it doesn't get a death sentence): Take the weapon - No weapon? Take his technique - No technique? Take his energy. The sequence wouldn't work in a different order, and it's logical confiscation's primary targets are weapons/tools (it would probably also differentiate between that).
A plot having logical twists that don't work in favor of a character or his plans isn't bending any plot. In fact, this twist in particular was very well set up and it effectively still nerfed Sukuna a lot by taking away his weapon.
