it’s really not. Kaido when he lost was canonically weakened to the point that his flame clouds were barely holding up Onigashima.

In my opinion Sanji and Zoro are already besties, what Sanji asked Zoro to do is the same situation as when someone very close ask you to unplug them if they are in vegetative state. Sanji asked him to end his life if he wasn't himself anymore. Also it felt that Zoro was pretty worried (tsundere way) when BM kidnapped him

Kaido wouldn’t lose again. If Oda wanted Luffy to surpass Kaido, he wouldn’t have had Kaido canonically stated to be weakened before Luffy returned with ACoC let alone G5.
