My reaction whenever 'Shiryu kills Mihawk' topic comes up:
Give it a rest, already. Mihawk is likelier to be Zoro's endgame villain. For all we know, Zoro vs Mihawk may well take place after the complete defeat of WG and/or the marines in the final war and, therefore, be the closing fight of the series as a whole.
After all, the dreams of Jinbei, Brook, Chopper, and Zoro aren't likely to be fulfilled before Laugh Tale. I mean, obviously, Chopper isn't going to be able to cure all illnesses before SHs journey ends, Humans and Fishmen aren't going to be living in harmony before SHs journey ends, and Brook meeting Laboon can only happen after SHs journey ends. This means, their dreams being fulfilled after One Piece is discovered isn't out of the question.
Lastly, I'll use Stampede to illustrate my point because, although Oda didn't write the screenplay of that film, he still wrote the film's story: Zoro vs Fujitora in that film is all you need to know as to why Zoro defeating Mihawk before he takes down Fujitora is poor writing. Back in Dressrosa, it took two Shichibukais and the admiral himself to properly stop Fujitora's most wide-reaching attack we've seen so far. In Stampede, Zoro's best attack so far could slice it in half, but couldn't properly stop it. Mihawk obliterated it with a casual unnamed swing.
While the film isn't canon, obviously, I believe that Oda having inputs as to what is shown is crucial, especially because it showed where OP Swordsmen power scaling lies. I'm not gonna start spewing out BS that Mihawk would neg diff Fuji, but it was clear from the film that Fuji's signature attack meant very little for Mihawk. And we all know that invisible Shiryu isn't winning against Fuji, let alone Mihawk.
Zoro defeating Mihawk in Elbaf to only then struggle against Shiryu is an asspull of epic proportions. Far harder to believe than Luffy winning against Kaido to then struggle against BB. It is more natural and realistic for Zoro to win against King, then Shiryu, then Fuji and/or the Gandhi-like Gorosei, then finally Mihawk.
The plot requires Luffy to find One Piece if the final war is truly going to take place, whereas defeating Mihawk matters only to Zoro. Defeating Mihawk isn't going to reveal any secret or start any war. Zoro vs Mihawk taking place after the SHs journey ends or, at least, once the final war is over, is acceptable.
