Anime & Manga Zoro is trash

Why did you even like Zoro in the first place?
After ZKK didn't happen, Zoro's character didn't change, he's still the same character, yet he's magically trash now.

Did you start reading one piece at Wano, saw a ZKK video and fell in love with the idea of Zoro killing Kaido and somehow it was tied to his character?
:wonderland:
I never said Zoro as a character was good. I've always exclusively talked about Zoro's feats as power was his only saving grace coming into Wano. And yet going into Wano I've built expectations based on plot threads Oda has layed out and my own personal expectations.

I was hoping for Zoro's character to get a facelift during Wano, for him to have big story moments like in the Pre-TS. Through Zoro get more lore on swordsmanship and swords themselves, along with some mention of Mihawk being in Wano some time ago, maybe some impressive feat of some kind, to build Mihawk's legacy, which in turn builds upon the "World's Strongest Swordsman" title, that Mihawk actually did try to look for competitors throughout the world to go to such a secluded place. Zoro attemting to recruit Samurais to join their cause as he said he would when they were departing from Zou, possibly getting to know the Wano people and their heritage/culture/history so he can get more of an understanding, and possibly relate it back to his own past to make his connection with Wano grow.

I was once big on Zoro x Hiyori that Oda was seemingly setting up because I hoped that they would connect before the war, and during the war Hiyori taking revenge on Orochi COMPENTENTLY, as she has declared that she would try to do, with Zoro watching over to experience 1st hand Hiyori's resolve in taking out her father's killer with her own hands, which would satify Zoro seeing Orochi's downfall in person.

I expected the relationship of Yasuie and Zoro to lead somewhere maybe get to know the Shitmosukis better through Zoro taking care of Toko after Yasuie's death before the war. Zoro wanted to take out Orochi to get vengeance for Yasuie, but decides against it because he realizes that Kaido's the true threat, and Orochi's just a figurehead, and there are others that lost much more to Orochi who's yearning to kill Orochi (Hiyori).

When Zoro decided to go after Kaido I hoped that he'd be the one to kill Kaido (doesn't mean Luffy couldn't defeat him initially). When he does it, he's doing it to avenge Yasuie and those that suffered under Kaido rule, which unbeknowst to him he would gain the praise from the Wano residents, to have his name spoken in the same sentence as Ryuma, his legendary ancestor who through special circumstances handed to Zoro Shusui, his legendary blade. He'd make a name for himself in Wano, and also building a legacy of his own, which these accolades would add to the WSS title when he nabs it from Mihawk.

But we didn't get any of that. Rather Zoro's only legacy he's leaving in Wano is being known as a common criminal that killed a magistrate, Zoro's relationship with Yasuie went absolutely nowhere, Zoro's declarations were never fulfilled and were never touched on again, which makes him a lier, a fraud. Hiyori was a stupid bimbo that just acted on a whim to take out Orochi, only bringing seastone nails as weapons, becoming a damsel in distress with no plan B, getting lucked out thanks to plot. And who was his final opponent? King, a tough ass foe with a personality of wet cardboard. He had no prescence throughout Wano except when the raid begun, and has done nothing of significant plot relevance except for being Zoro's fight, and getting flashbacks of him and Kaido together, who the latter never recipocated any feelings towards King in the present. King had less story importance than even Queen!

And what is Zoro's reward through all this? Oh that's right. A theoretically inferior sword compared to Shusui named Enma, a sword Hiyori claimed to be the only weapon that scarred Kaido, which is a complete lie as Ame no Habikire did so as well, which means she fooled Zoro to give up her birthright in exchange for Shusui. And what was the Grim Reaper plot about? It turns out that it was just build up for a shitty gag between Zoro and Sanji fore the millionth time Zoro that the fanboys of both of the caracatures can rant and yell at each other to bring more attention towards this chapter and to wring out as much paper as possible from this chapter.

Will Zoro visit Ryuma's grave at this point? Honestly it's not certain. Will Zoro ever reveal his finding on the bridge during his battle with Gyukimaru, on what makes a Black Blade? Who the fuck knows. But forsure I know this well. Oda has dropped the ball for the last fucking time. I get it. Zoro's nothing more than a servant to Luffy, and his dream only serves to prop his captain up. Mihawk doesn't have feats or a legacy to support his claim of the WSS title, and is only a stand in for Zoro to overcome to complete his dream, and his dream only matter to himself and Fraudhawk. No one else cares, and no one else in the One Piece world cares about Black Blades, sword grades, or swordsmanship in general, which makes the subject in and of itself hollow. And most of all I come to terms that Zoro has became a farce of his Pre-TS self. He doesn't have much of a personality outside of being a muscle brain that blows Luffy every chance he gets.

As the revelation has came to me I'm dropped being a fan of this waste of a character, and as soon as Wano ends I'm dropping this dumpster fire of a shonen manga.

So let me get this straight, you only liked Zoro because of the plot and character you imagined he will get?
All these hours dedicated to writing about him/ defending him /wearing his profile pic and you didn't even like him, but hoped you will like him when Wano ends?

Jesus, this is beyond schizo shit...

Perhaps it's hatred projection. Oda didn't indulge their theory so obviously they hate him, but maybe said hate carries over onto the character who didn't do the feat they came up with :usosmug:
You shouldn't be putting words in other people's mouth. Didn't your mom raise you better than that?

No dumbass. Because of the plot threads that were either incomplete, never moved from the starting point, or was written horribly. I can find some of the writing flaws that were made with Zoro that isn't even based on expectation if you want that.

Zoro still had his minute moments, and I held hope that Oda would fulfill some of the plot threads he himself laid out, but that wasn't meant to be.

Sorry for having expectations for my ex-fav character, judge. I'll make sure to turn off my brain.

If you're gonna come at this judgementally and not with an open mind, then you can fuck right off.

Yeah oda did tease plenty plot thread concerning zoro. But abandoned them all:gokulaugh:

but you said that you didn't think that Zoro was a good character (literally 1st sentence), which logically means that the good Zoro character you liked was just your imagined version of him

Either that or you're just fine with liking "not good" characters?

There's a difference between a likable character, and a good characters. People can like objectively poorly done products, and people can dislike some of the best things this world has to offer.

It helps that Zoro didn't receive that much attention or screentime throughout the Post-TS until Wano, and I held back criticism of him up to this point, thinking that in such a place seemingly tailored made for Zoro is where he will finally be given the time to shine as a character.

And yet here we are

Thank you. Some of it isn't even expectations, but things in the story Oda set up only to abandon.
Saying this , I have always been anti Zkk. Zoro could have many other plot threads come to fruitation rather than him killing kaido. He never really had major beef with him. Heck kid killing logically made more sense than zoro( kid actually had bad blood with him)

Trash post.
You just exposed yourself as a toxic bully.
Cry more but I will feel no pity for such a Zolololo turd but I’m waiting on this guy @ShishioIsBack so that I can shit on him like everyone here should:cheers:

Fair enough. ZKK was always a theory, and I don't mind that. But in saying that I have a problem with the way the aftermath was handled. Zoro exclaims to Kaido that he wish that he could of knocked him down, with Kaido simply responding with "eh, that's enough for you". Now this alone isn't bad, but it sucks that Zoro never reflected in anyway on how he failed to do even do what's the bare minimum to him, obviously showing shame that he couldn't to much to Kaido.
