And Kid has a glaring problem too about trusting others and wanting to do it all alone, I feel Oda will use it to show how that counters and hinder his productivity and performance. It's a reoccurring sub theme in Wano he shares, about learning to ask for a hand and he will end up having to trust in Luffy when his grand plan unravels and he underperforms.
Zoro on the other hand (like luffy), is the most invested here. In Chapter 1000, Oda highlights this too. Hell, the backstory of Zoro hasn't even started yet, which means we haven't even begun Zoro main focus yet. Him and Luffy are getting a lot of parallels together this arc, Luffy and Zoro will be the "hero outsiders" who the people of Wano place their hopes on = highest performers.

Luffy just saw him on a screen for 5 mins odas scraping the barrel.

It has nothing to do with beating Kaido though, where despite both being present, one was ignored(Zoro) while the other(Luffy) is the one to carry the burden of everyone including Zoro's arc connections, including Oden's retainers to save Wano by striking down Kaido

Its interesting that in Official he says "Will you put ... ... Wano on your back"
And not will you save wano or defeat Kaido. So it could just mean to take Wano as Luffy's own territory. And so it happens what do you need to become a Yonko, you need territory.
So its doesn't matter if Luffy defeats Kaido as long as the Wano goes under Luffy. And most likely his right hand could defeat Kaido and Wano will still go to Luffy and he will become new Yonko.
