After Rei says she's here to kill Kyoukai Kyoukai remembers Yuuren saying the next shiyuu will come to kill her. Kyoukai asks if she's here to kill her after breaking the clan rule and leaving. Rei responds only one is allowed to leave the village. However, Rei knows Kyoukai's weaker than usual right now so she decides to wait even if she can kill her now. Rei threatens her to take her hand away and Kyoukai says she doesn't want to fight her. She asks Rei what happened at the ritual and to Kyoushiki. As they get into a little fight Rei overpowers Kyoukai. Rei then notices the life energy she's carrying with her is lacking and calls her an idiot for using the forbidden technique. Whether it succeeds or not the user will lose a portion of their life. She mocks her saying even though she left the village like she's all that she did something like this.
Shin overhears this and asks what Kyoukai did for him. Rei hears Shin say this and realizes he's the one Kyoukai used the technique on and says she'll kill him after Kyoukai since part of her life is with him. Rei decides to wait 3 days to allow Kyoukai to recover enough strength to fight her. After that she'll kill everyone in the unit she's in charge of. The HSU gets ready to fight her but Karyoten stops them and asks to let Kyoukai handle this. Rei leaves and when Shin calls out to Kyoukai she says she'll explain everything later so he'll understand everything.
Kyoukai says just like how Rei looked into her she saw into Rei. Rei is genuinely a shiyuu and is in a deep darkness. Similar to the darkness that consumed Yuuren but not to the point where she doesn't think Rei can come out of the darkness. However, if Rei succeeds in killing Kyoukai she will be lost in the darkness forever. Kyoukai says she can't allow that to happen and that she'll use the next 3 days to focus and regain the strength to take down Rei. She doesn't intend on killing Rei but if it comes down to it she will.
Karyoten asks Kyoukai who Shiki is. Kyoukai explains that Shiki was someone who grew up with Rei like a sister just like Kyoukai and Kyoushou. She believes in the ritual Shiki died and because of that Rei is in the deep darkness and that in the midst of the ritual Rei might have killed Shiki.
