Some characters are allegedly going to die but there's no sensible reason Oda has to kill Yamato as of now

The problem is, Yamato has no connection to Carrot. Even if she dies, Carrots motivation wont grow.

I know that. But what I'm saying is Oda named Yamato, isn't that not something you usually name a character for the hell of it. She's far and away more important to just throw away for a measly death.

The main reason yamato should be the next straw hat to join over carrot is because she feels more like a main character. Carrot for most part feels like a background character irrespective of fighting capabilities. Yamato also has ace connection which is more impactful than pedro's imo.

I seriously believe that Oda is looking to widen the roster of females in the crew, which is a fair choice considering that more balance is never hurtful. In general there are story implications, but I think not by coincidence Carrot and Yamato were chosen by Oda to be both females biologically.

If Yamato and Carrot were to join the crew, one more nakama would be missing, since 12 is an odd number and 13 would fit the theory of 4 straw hats in each sea. Since Katakuri is not likely, I think the supposed last crewmate will be either Marco or someone introduced in Elbaf.

Nothing to do with nakama, but just about yamatos plot. You know she has a very close connection to luffy thriugh ace and even knows his dream, so I feel she will stand up to him at some time which might even be some kind of sacrifice
