My guess is that time Luffy was using G4 without Adv. COA. We've already seen that Luffy mastered G4 against Katakuri who he fought for hours on end.

Against Kaido though he was using Adv. COA so that's why he run out of Haki fast. Al least that's my interpretation as no other explanation makes it logical for me for Luffy to run out of Haki this early in the fight.

its make sense, but the fact Oda show us he spamming G4 for fodder make us speculate "Ah, Luffy might increasing his stamina in G4".

Chapter 1003 spoiler translation:
- After the attack, Luffy ran out of Haki, needs 10 minutes to recharge and can not do anything.
- Big Mom attacked him with the move named "Hahaba" but Zoro managed to block it.
- Law used the move named "Countershock" to attack Big Mom.
- Kaido used the move named "Vortex Wind" to attack Killer and Kid.
- Kaido attacked Luffy but Zoro uses the move named " Black Dragon Tornado" and managed to damage Kaido. Zoro sucessfully secured Luffy one more time.
- Kaido seemed to be a little damaged and realise Oden's sword.
- Kaido used new AOE move affecting/destroying large area.
- CPO appears on a boat and analize the fight: Samurai's side has 5400, lost 400. Kaido's side has 30000, lost 3000.
- Kaido appears with his hybrid form.
-No break next week.

How the hell could cp0 analyse the fight from a boat while onigashima is in the sky ? I'm having doubts on this.

Well he didn't even give his Base a try, maybe he realized it was so dangerous he had to rely on Hybrid all of a sudden

My personal feeling is that Hybrid mid diffs Base

Base Zoro might already be good enough to push Hybrid to high difficulty without relying on Asura

Hybrid Kaido should be Pirate King level ....
that's all I can be (almost) sure about ....

but true ... maybe Kaido didn't want to take any risk .... your guts my be right

Luffy lost the race of pirate king, the moment G4 cake into existence. All other SN working fine and doing great against Kaidou without any kind of draw back or any other shit, meanwhile so called fifth emperor can't even fix his drawback after having immense fighting experience. Trash fighter Luffy. Never ever say that Oda wanks Luffy or anything.

And another thing, now everyone can tank lightening and stay alive, how surprising. Good. Guess cutting lightening saved for some other time.

Luffy will never be proper top tier as long G4 keeps being that little reliable. All top tier have great endurance, they dont go down after 5 minutes of fighting.
