I thought the talk about freedom was more the ramification that they will be lifelong servants now rather than the forced conscription for 1 night. Many of them were forced into conscription by Kaido's overwhelming strength to fight for him in the first place, that is his whole schtick, so while 2 wrongs don't make a right, I wouldn't highlight this particular aspect as a major issue morally.
Doesn't seem they are too close as "nakama" anyway, it's strictly power hierarchy and riding on the backs of the Wano citizenry.
