It is very childish and convenient as you said. Oda just uses the same copy and paste formula every arc. Nothing changes. So many convenient plot devices and yet the fanbase eats this all up shouting GODA. One Piece has been nothing but mediocre at best post time skip. Wano thus far has been a huge disappointment. Literally three years has passed for Wano and yet here we are only 50-60 percent done with the arc and yet we barely got any important info. Like how in the world can anyone justify a five year arc? No manga does this crap.

I feel like Oda shot himself in the foot when it comes to these big wars when he had Luffy effortlessly knock out thousands of fishmen with his conqueror's haki.

Like, last chapter and this one give this feeling that the beast pirates just have too many members for the alliance to reliably win, so having Tama have the power to turn so much people to their side was meant to feel triumphant i guess, but we all know that most of the fodder in onigashima could be knocked out by a Luffy and Kaido conqueror's haki clash and that the top executives are the only ones that really matter.

Not sure if it was his decision or that of his editors, but 'millet dumplings' instead of 'kibi dango' is a no from me.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a Viz editorial decision.
