I’m sure a thread like this will get reported to the mods by triggered Yonko fans who shall remain nameless, but the question needs to be asked regardless of who it offends and what corrupt mods who shall also remain nameless decide to abuse their power.
Adding a brief non trolling explanation of why Kaido is poorly written to appease Kaido fans
I and a variety of others have talked at lengths about how terribly written Kaido is as a character, and how there is really nothing consistent about him and about how he has no character.
But that begs the obvious question:
What exactly is there to enjoy about Kaido? What aspects of his character are actually good?
Let’s go ahead and address some of the high quality opinions coming this way:
“Kaido is cool because he have big Muscles” yes yes, we all know Kaido has big muscles, but that hardly makes him a unique character, and even less-so enjoyable. Many characters in fiction have big muscles.
“Kaido is cool because he look cool” yes yes, Kaido’s design was created to appeal to people who know nothing about character designs and thus Kaido is sure to appeal to the uninitiated, but for people who actually care about character designs that contribute to character or theme? For people who want a character design that has thematic meaning and adds depth to character like Katakuri, Doflamingo, Akainu, etc...How are these people supposed to enjoy Kaido?
“Kaido is cool because he strong” ah yes, Kaido is quite strong. Strength does not make for a good character though.
“Kaido is cool because he Yonko” well there have been 4 other Yonko in One Piece, this isn’t exactly unique to Kaido.
“Kaido is cool because he have cool fruit” ah yes, the Dragon Dragon fruit is cool. Oh, I mean Fish Fish fruit, my mistake. I’ll give Kaido fans that.
And that’s about it, there is literally nothing else to enjoy about Kaido since his personality is a contradictory mess. What do you all think? How can people age 13+ realistically enjoy Kaido?
