Though Kaido's design isn't that bad too. It's just like what expected it to look like. I guess Oda is just holding on the more impressive design for Kaido's Awakened form to not overshadow it by his hybrid form.

True. It's the same for all other hybrid forms in the series. All hybrids in the series so far except for Page One look pretty similar to each other.
