In Chapter 5, I felt you went off in a tangent with the character and setting descriptions. It felt like we were taking in the surroundings more so than character interactions. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the pacing felt quite slow do to it.

However, it might just be me.

Other than that, impressive work as usual. :milaugh:

Sorry it took so long to reply, wasn't feeling so good for awhile, and was busy with some RL matters, but finally got around to reading again.
The characters have been enjoyable for the most part, but if I could offer my two cents, my only nitpick is that the story could use some more action. That said, the other best new char so far is Admiral Alder, who seems like Akainu and Zephyr's successor. Thought it was a good touch to show how the background characters at Marineford were affected by the war, and how in Mihawk's case, his actions helped create a bitter enemy who has a legitimate reason to be angry at him.

The intro chapters with new nakama and their backstories are a little slow, I know, but we will definitely get into some action soon :funky:

I posted this some time ago in the Zoro FC but I wanted to share it here as well, a sneak preview of my upcoming black blade story arc set in Wano.


The cavern was dead silent within. He could no longer hear the storm howling outside, only the faint drip-drip of water from stalactites. Mihawk produced a lighter from his coat pocket, flicking the switch to summon forth a tiny ember, the single source of illumination casting long shadows on the walls. Mihawk walked onward, impervious to the sibilant whispering around him, until he reached the end of the tunnel. A single slab of rock bearing a katana in its sheath. Mihawk lifted the blade reverently, pausing to admire its glossy dark sheen, the same obsidian colour as his Yoru, but flecked with veins of red that seemed to pulsate as though alive.

That’s when he felt her.

Mihawk didn’t have to turn around to know she was there. A young woman stood behind him, pale and slim with sleek black hair spilling down the back of her kimono, patterned with plum blossoms. The ghostly whispering grew in volume and intensity; the hairs on the back of Mihawk’s neck rose, but he kept his tone level, even as the spectre addressed him.

“That does not belong to you.” Her voice sounded like the grave, cold and distant, echoing through the empty cavern.
