1. 2nd strongest

Historically Sanji does not do well against the 2nd strongest in crews.




Kaku used kicks very proficiently also had a lot of speed and agility similar to Sanji, makes you wonder why they didn't fight. Which brings me to my next point......

2. The Matchup

Many people have believed Sanji will fight King since they have similar abilities like fire and flight..........
Contrary to popular belief, Sanji fighting people who have similar abilities to him has not worked well for sanji. If anything it puts Sanji at a disadvantage.

Doflamingo was very good with kicks, and had flying abilities just like Sanji.





Vergo was adapt with kicks and had rokushiki abilities just like Sanji,



Judge had flying abilities just like Sanji, He was extremely good in the air, he was known as the Garuda because of this.





Overall Sanji does not do well against those who can match his key attributes like Speed, agility and flight.





3. The Presence of Zoro and Marco downstairs

These 2 characters being downstairs makes it all the more likely that Sanji will not Fight King.

Zoro is going to go downstairs and Marco is also there.
Zoro is the 2nd strongest and also now has the ability to cut fire. King is known as King the Wildfire......
Marco is a 1st commander like King and can also fly just as proficiently if not better than King.




4. 3rd strongest

Sanji is 3rd strongest , He always defeats characters who are 3rd or below, never anything higher than 3rd. Even in some of Sanjis best arcs in the series he still fought 3rd strongest. the formula isn't going to change.



5. The Difficulty of Sanjis Fights........

Sanji generally has an easy time in fights designed for him to win. Its never been anything more than Mid Difficulty.





Given King's portrayal as a 1st commander, its unlikely that he'll be treated as a mid diff fight for anyone. Especially after Luffy went extreme diff with a 1st commander last arc. 1st Commanders are portrayed on a level of their own compared to other Yonko Commanders.

Not to troll but I'm surprised fans of Sanji vs King and look at the one encounter he had with him as proof.

As you put it, everytime he's had those encounters with people everyone thought he'd fight decently (I.e. Vergo, Doflamingo, His father or brothers, now King etc), he always gets shafted out of those particular matchups. This isn't even an insult to Sanji, it's just pure fact that it happens.

Guaranteed people during EL predicted him and Kaku would fight because Kaku was swift, nimble, kicked him once on the train, and primarily used Rankyaku, an air kick move. Then Kaku immediately pulls out 2 swords and calls himself a Yontoryuu user (incl his legs) the moment Zoro encountered him.

This entirely destroys the notion of "King isn't a "true" Swordsman" when he clearly uses his meito and and doesn't actually need to properly use swords until his fight (like Kaku).

Not only that, there's just the pure fact that Queen and Sanji have a connection and it's very possible Queen knows how to easily counter the Raid suit, seeing as he knew Judge on some level as a scientist. He may even understand Sanji's genetics and fire powers.

I like that you've provided actual reasoning for why this might not happen instead of "Candyboi too weak lolz! Zoro da GAWD!!"

Based on what we've seen either can be argued as his matchup. My expectations are at least Queen, but my hopes are King. Not even on an agenda level, it just has the potential to be one of the best looking fights in the manga and especially the anime

To counter your points:

1. All of the fights you mentioned had Sanji already injured and this Sanji is basically completely fresh only punched by Black Maria a bit. It’s not like when Sanji was forced to let Pearl break him or when Nami got blown up in his body and therefore didn’t have any haki.

2. Doffy was a bad matchup in general not because of fighting but because Sanji had no knowledge of his devil fruit and lost heavily due to that. Vergo and Sanji were pretty even without either going all out and again, Sanji was already injured, Judge literally cheated to win that fight in his fire proof suit...

3. Zoro is not fighting anyone in his current condition and Sanji won’t fight anyone until Marco is taken out. Why would Sanji fight Queen if Marcos still up? This is why Perosepero is there, to make sure Marco goes down.

4. Absalom was Moriahs right hand man in thriller bark. Kuroobi was the second strongest of Arlong Park.

5. Honestly, King or Queen are probably high diff fights if Sanji doesn’t get a power up right now. If he did they’re both mid diffs. Neither have been necessarily impressive.

There are plenty of reasons for Sanji vs Queen over Sanji vs King, these are just not good ones.

Sanji was literally making jokes at the end of the clash....

And got pissed at how durable the RS was. Imagine thinking Sanji even cared about the clash. He'll see King as a nuiscance the same way he sees all his previous opponents.

As someone who wants Zoro to fight King, both the reasons that people give for either Zoro or Sanji to fight him are pretty superficial let's be honest.

"Zoro can cut fire"
"Sanji can fly and also uses fire"
"King uses a sword like Zoro"
"King already had a clash with Sanji"
"Zoro is second strongest"

We've never needed a super good reason or history between Zoro and Sanji's opponents for a matchup to happen, they'll fight who they need to fight.
