He didn’t block it
He halted it for a second only for the attack to proceed and not stop and at the cost of 20+ bones broken
so it’s weird to use that scene as if he actually blocked it with the wording you said
again, it’s impressive, not taken anything away... but Luffy was more impressive.. as simple and as clear as the chapter of “supreme king haki” where Oda highlighted the difference between Luffy and Zoro...
Zoro’s strongest all out attack was disappointing for Zoro that he WISHED it could make Kaido at least on his knee momentarily
while Luffy right afterwards put Kaido on his ass...
You can create all kinds of illusions about sword or punches or whatever, but the difference is clear as day in SAME freakig chapter...

The overall portrayal Oda gives to the admiral figure is insanely good.
Also, when it comes to future match ups, we always talk about Luffy vs Akainu but think about even the likely possibility of Zoro vs Kizaru. Look at how much Zoro is being wanked right now, the things he is doing and that he will likely grow more in the Wano arc ALONE. He is a monster now, let alone the end of Wano.
His fight with Kizaru would likely come only during the time the Straw hats challenge the WG, in the endgame of the story.
Honestly, I feel that these admirals might turn out to be even more impressive than I thought.

Yes they did. When Kidd lost to Kaido and showed up in that jail cell, I specifically remember people bashing him and saying stuff like “no way is he Luffy’s rival”. They were also bashing him because many presumed that he got his arm cut off by Snacks. Then when Wano came around and Luffy ended up getting one shotted, Kidd was revealed to have CoC, we had the Udon competition scenes, and the rumors that he lost to a commander were dispelled the hate chilled out a lot. The massive Kidd hate only came back during this recent raid.
