I think actually the opposite might happen after this chapter.
@HA001 has a good post about Marco/Sanji mirroring Zoro/Sanji from Enies Lobby.
Sanji took Jabra off of Zoros tail when he saved Usopp.
Now Sanji takes Queen off of Marcos tail when he saved Chopper.

Given the Numerous EL parallels I think Zoro may not fight King anymore.
If he does, it might be after Zoro kills Kaido.

By then I think Marco will officially be down and King may be enraged at a new gen like Zoro killing Kaido.
And at that point Zoro will be very weaked. King will be weakened and enraged.
That would be a proper Zoro fight.

Like Thriller Bark where Zoro was the one to deal with Kuma alone.
