No. Barrier Haki cannot solve everything. Otherwise, Hakai would be stopped for good instead of being broken through.
There is a possibility that Kaido used barrier haki against Zoro's Asura and it didnt help. Hiryu Kaen has the highest AP but it is dodgeable. Good luck dodging Asura or Sanzen Sekai. Again, Squardo with 0 AP has basically killed WSM. All it matters is landing a clean hit and overwhelming combat style matters there more than AP because simple style can be dodged easily while complex cant.

So we don't need another powerhouse in the crew at this point of the story when Jinbei barely joined the crew officialy and we have much better Strawhat characters that could be developed, Yamato joining is just bad.
I think it would be better if she didn't even existed, like Tama and some of the Scabbards. This arc would be 50x BETTER. We could focus on the Supernova, their respective crews and obviously the Strawhats and actually build more tension in this "war"
But nope, we need Tama and Yamato doing things other characters should totally be doing. Usopp and Nami? Law's Crew? Kidd's Crew? NAAAH, LET'S CREATE MORE CHARACTERS THAT WILL 100% BE FORGOTTEN AND GIVE THEM CONSIDERABLE SCREENTIME

Yamato is probably above Luffy and Zoro right now but they both will surpass her by the end of the arc and if she does join the crew then Sanji should also do that by the next arc, same as what happened when Robin, Franky and Jinbe joined. I'm not so sure about the Jinbe and Yamato power dynamic tho as they both would be new crew members. Yamato would probably be kept as the stronger one.

Zoro's haki blocked Hakai momentarily yet Hakai had so much AP that it broke through.
Same with Zoro vs Kaido. It is the AP of Asura which broke though Kaido's defense. Do you think Squado would be able to break through Kaido's defense...that is basically what your argument implies.
