I'm a aware that Yamato will join... But the more I see of her it actually makes it worse for me.

So much hope for her df design but disappointed to the max at the Mink Mink no Mi.
Still this Oden thing and not even the slightest idea what her role in the crew could be.

Well but maybe soon she will grow on me...but so far she would be my most disliked SH. She feels so lackluster in all but also forced to us as amazing

her hybrid design was a huge disappointment for me. it looks like a random sulong, does not like something very original. i was already accepting yamato as the next crewmember but i think it is hard a boring design like that is what oda has in mind for a straw hat. i hope her form is not white at least
and we like to trash on carrot fans but i think this is a moment for them to laugh because she is the original sulong. the other sulong were designed after her so yamato hybrid is a copy of o a copy of carrot transformation.

jimbei might be the last straw hat.

Lowkey starting to hope that there isn’t five acts because if there is act 3 will most likely end with Yamato’s death.
Yamato has no chance of dying. Oda will not kill off someone who never gets to achieve their dream of going out on an adventure and lives all their days trapped in a prison they hate.

Anyone of the Red Scabbards can die as tragic heroes since they will have lived a decent life and achieved what they wanted to by avenging Oden, but Yamato absolutely has more to do post-Wano. She’s not a character that Oda would kill off.

Yamato’s character is connected to two individuals who never got to achieve their dream but got to do what was most important to them.

Oden - Failed to open wanos border but was able to give his country a fighting chance and save his friends

Ace - Failed to make Whitebeard the pirate king but was able to save his brother and find those who love him.

Yamato going the same way is a big possibility. Yamato’s first sentence to Momo is “I’ll die for you” so it’s not an impossibility.

Yamato - Failing to go out to sea with Luffy but was able to save Momo and Luffy to bring forth the new dawn is a possibility if Oda is looking to make a tragedy.

Odas already begun “killing” off the scabbards so it’s loss it’s emotional weight since the two we were the most connected to (kinemon and kiku) were already killed

But what's the point then? If Yamato's character already feels completely uninspired and coming out of nowhere, she at least needs somewhere to go in the plot that isn't just popping in and out (hopefully that "somewhere" isn't the crew because she's horrible even in terms of devil fruit...).

Because a lot of people like her. And to bring forth character development for momo

While I'm in for making people suffer, especially those who want this forced, uninspired character with an unfitting devil fruit to join, I don't see why Momonosuke needs more development. He's already quite aware of his importance and is starting to take the reins of his figure.

Yeah, but Yamato’s connection to them is just standard Strawhat. Standard for a lot of characters really, not just the Strawhats. They “failed“ in the past, but passed their dreams on to be fulfilled in the present.

And if they want to adventure, they get to go on a adventure.

And with Ace and Oden, their deaths were cruel, but Oda still at least gave them a few years of happiness beforehand. Yamato’s life would be the most miserable in One Piece history if she died here, she’d have had twenty eight years of hell and one day of joy- two if we count the day Ace showed up.

It’s not how Oda does things.

Another poster said it best, Momo and Yamato will follow separate paths from their parents. It is no coincidence that Yamato will(as in forced) become what Momo wants to become and Yamato wants to do what Momo has done for most of his life

Momo will stay in Wano because he wants to become Shogun.

Yamato will leave Wano because she wants to sail the seas

so no, Yamato is not written to die.

a lot of readers but no characters. momo and shinobu are the only characters that spent some time with her but just a few minutes, her death would cause nothing do them that watching kinemon and okiku dying did not cause 100000 times more already. even luffy has not bonded enough with her to be affected by her death. even in the kaido group we don't know of anyone who is her friend or close to her.
at this point kaido is probably the only character that could care.

As I said this is if Oda wants the “tragedy” for many of the reasons you named are what makes her the perfect candidate.

Much of Yamato’s life she lived chained and abused. She wants to be free more than anything in the world and if her final act in life was saving the greatest enemies of her father (Luffy and Momo) then she has been truly freed of her chains. She is currently fighting wano because of the “chains” that she still carries.

I’m not saying it will happen, I’m saying if Oda is doing the kabuki play theme with the third act ending in tragedy a character like Yamato is one of the prime candidates. It used to be kinemon but his “death” was already shown.

Yamato dying to protect the future she sees for wano in Momo is something truly oden would do.

Momo is the most important character in this kabuki play. The arc is styled after Momotaro it’s about Momos journey to becoming the shogun of Wano. Watching Yamato be killed by her own father would be a major moment in his journey.

Even though I dislike Yamato, I never can see him dying. He's basically Ace's replacement. If he exchange sake cup with luffy after war he will become brother of Luffy (joining or not)
Then 3 brothers represent Paramecia, Logia and Zoan. Hell those three even has fire in their power. Sabo is literal fire. Yamato has fire around his body. Luffy has fire power in one of his technique despite the fire maybe just for the sake of animation idk.

If someone has to die and Oda wants to surprise everyone then it has to be a character like Carrot... Virtually no single soul in our world will think that she'll die (including myself)... I'll be one of those who will praise Oda if he pulls that off in a good way...
