You nailed it. This isn't a satisfying direction however you look at it. Either Momo grows up and misses all the years he had to train, or he gains strength out of nowhere, creating negative implications such as "Why didn't Shinobu age this person to be stronger?"

I expect Oda to likely pull off a power inflation that makes him at least strong enough to be considered not weaker than Kin'emon yeah. Of course if he trained he might have become massively stronger than that. So I hope Oda won't push him too far or that would constitute bad writing haha.
