I remember all the accusations that Oden was a Gary Stu whom everyone loved and could do no wrong. This entire back flashback has revealed to us how fallible he truly is.

-Has caused a bunch of disturbances which led to his disownment
-Only regained favor by doing what he's best at, getting into trouble
-Abandoned his friends and family for adventure
-Played second/third banana to Newgate and Roger while on their ships
-Is chastised by his retainers for being an irresponsible oaf
- Recklessly confronted Orochi that ultimately led to his imprisonment and the further ruination of his country

His and Wano's fall were just as much his own doing as they were Orochi's. I hope for a lot of self reflection on his part before his final moments. That said, all of the above just make him a more humanized character.

why are some are reacting surprised that the barrier barrier fruit has such use , and that Oden could not break it?
Jozu used his fruit to block Mihawks best move and that was head on.
i think the barrier barrier fruit is even better than the diamond fruit.

Sounds silly lol thats how it is . I am kinda disappointed with this flashback.

The thing is oda hyped him to a level that oden can match likes of whitebeard ,roger but he was unable to break barrier of the oldman.

Oden was not leader worthy, he was pirate at heart.

I would say someone like yasu , ushimaru were worth to be shogun.

you know if Barto is there , that would be his main work protecting , no matter how you look at it . he will not really fighting. and i really think that incident mentioned at the end of Dressrosa would be helping defeating BM and Kaido and opening Wano's borders and i can see them protecting Wano when Luffy continues his adventure
