LMAO

Yamao so close, yet so far. :milaugh:

Though because of the fire, I guess it's still possible for them to meet in the following chapters. If they do, let's see the extent of the interaction. Keeping in mind that actually meeting the other straw hats is a bare bones requirement for joining. One that Yamao has somehow consistently flunked. But let's see what happens now.

That aside, the Naminess was off the charts this chapter especially.

Like, holy shit :milaugh::milaugh:

LITERALLY Nami with horns lmfao. Namao if you will. Someone good with photoshop, can you edit the horns away? I wanna try something out.

Also I almost forgot about the Zoro stuff. But yeah, Yamao put up a better fight against a blood lusted hybrid Kaido than Zoro is doing against a somewhat casual King.

Obviously Zoro will win and will be stronger by the end of the battle, but the fight is going to high diff range. In other words, forget about Sanji... Yamao is very, very comfortably at Zoro's power level.

The reason Oda can afford to make Yamao so obnoxiously strong is that he doesn't have to worry about her power level after this arc. He can just go all out. Make all the stans cream their pants. And then be done with her, not having to worry about fucking up 1000 chapters of crew dynamics since she won't be joining.

Carrot backstory panel was very similar that of paulie, otama, chew chew and bartolomeo. There characters are not strawhat worth might as well ally. If yamato such decoy how come carrot has not done nothing throughout this arc how come she has not seen. While other strawhats doing work while she has done nothing.
Logic.. if Yamato is a decoy, it is for Carrot to lay low.

Is it time to start a new “countdown since Carrot appeared in a chapter?”

We’re sitting at five since her last… memorable appearance
Let’s do a “Days since C4N said the latest ‘dumbest thing ever’ while defending a cartoon rabbit” tracker instead, it’ll never say anything but zero so we don’t have to keep up with it that closely :kayneshrug:

Backstories serve to contextualise a character and explain their inner most beliefs and desires. Every single straw hat either stated their dream in their backstory, or had it told to them by their mentor on their death bed with the backstory working to affirm why it's important to them.

Yamao's backstory on the other hand explained why she loves Oden and Wano so much and revealed her insecurities about the people of Wano hating her. It was all about how much she grew to love Wano's warriors and how she wishes she could become a samurai herself, like them one day. Even her statement of going out to sea was centred around Wano:

She'll go to sea and become stronger, and then come back to Wano and fight for them.

Her backstory is centred all around Wano, its people and their relationship since that's what her character is about. It's no surprise at all that she's about to confront the Kazenbo. A fiery, physical manifestation of the Kurozumi's burning hatred of Wano over the persecution they suffered. Yamao, Wano's guardian deity with ice powers, is going to put an end to that generational hatred and will provide an opportunity to redeem the people of Wano as they accept Kaido's daughter as one of their own citizens. Fulfilling Yamao's dream to protect Wano and become someone loved by all, like Oden.

There's absolutely nothing that would require joining the crew in any of that. As for the Ace flashback...holds about as much sway as it did for Tama, where it was copied and pasted from.

Let me put that into other words (because I know I already lost most of you by now)

Put yourself into Oda's shoes (for once) and try to think about that:

"How can I surprise my audience with the next strawhat revelation, while still having all the needed content for a recrutment ?"

Spoiler : Here is the answer.

Step 0. you have to choose something easy, not a very complexe story (a bit like Usopp)
Step 1. You introduce said strawhat.
Step 2. You put said strawhat backstory into the present (you don't lose content and you can have your story)
Step 3. Once the story is done you make the strawhat lay low
Step 4. You introduce a decoy and make that decoy have a backstory instead
Step 5. You put effort into the decoy, making them more relevant that they are really (marketing/promo ...)
Step 6. You put an end to your saga and make the decoy go away (the audiance should be surprised by that a first time)
Final step: You reintroduce your strawhat and make them a final candidate

Result: Your audience has been surprised twice and you owned your revelation.

So the answer to the question is simple: Make Carrot a stowaway twice and you will surprise your audience twice.

#BackstoriesAreNotNecessary
Can you at least coordinate and get your shit together?? Either the backstory (which Yamato has and Carrot does not) matters or it doesn’t…you two are the only friends either one has in this thread (unless you really WANT to claim Jerami and whatever the hell a “Wiwi” is), you gotta stay on message or nobody will take you seriously.

Yamato’s past - daughter of Kaido, inspired by Oden, held captive with other samurai, learned about the outside world, beaten for 20 years, formed a bond with Ace and learned about Luffy, betrayed her father to help bring him down

Carrot’s past - heard Pedro talk about Roger once, got some cute little gloves :gokulaugh:
