You realise that Wano is a closed country no ? they dont even know any of the people you mentioned.

Well I think the reason is that Mihawk himself amongst other characters of that high caliber...He is recognized as powerful and elite, but he isn't mentioned in the context of greatness in the same way as Roger or WB. I definitely think he is around Yonko level too if he dueled with Shanks but swordheads tend to overstimate him to put Zoro on a higher pedestal in turn. Agendas. People sometimes say Zoro has a lot of bias against him amongst the fanbase...When its not even the character...But its really just a response to the Zorobros who follow their headcanon to a crazy level.
