Character Discussion Do you agree with the disappointment people have regarding Eustass Kid?

Maybe if Oda did not waste our time with Sabaody Supernovas, people would not expect so much... realistically only Law, Bege, Drake, and Apoo have been useful to the story of that group (excluding Luffy and Zoro). When you throw a dozen characters into the story taking up screentime and plotlines, they are going to recieve hate. Kidd is simply the character that Oda hyped the most and hes been about as much a factor as the people i didnt name.

I think Oda came up with the idea and insisted on stretching this plotline because the fans initially loved it. By doing so, he gave us some of the slow-paced chapters ever in the manga at Dressrosa (unnecessary focus on Corazon-Law), in WCI (Bege chapters), in Wano (Kidd Udon chapters and three SN captain chapters). The idea of SNs started really good, but Oda somewhat ruined it by giving them more panel time and attention they deserve.

One of the main issues is everybody thought this was Kids PH moment!!!! In that arc Law burst onto the scene with major wank. Most 1-1s, best feats, etc. U didn’t have to deal with luffy MC shit immediately. This was peak supernova hype. That we’ll seemly never see again smh....

While Kids:
- barely got any characterization
-his firstmate got beat, an turned into a freak
-Zero 1-1 fights even though he saw Apoo
-Zero haki feats
-Got virtually no retribution for his imprisonment or his crew enslavement
-Did virtually nothing to Kaido

Like this shit pretty damn bad. Especially him not doing anything about Killer being turn into a smile freak. How tf beating Big mom setting that straight??? This arc would’ve made 10000 times more sense, if Kid was introduced in WCI. Waste of space Capone could’ve fucked off. An a legit Meme vs Kid battle could’ve been set up. Instead we got a connection to Kaido that went nowhere

The issue was that Oda introduced Kid as Luffy's rival and then subsequently sidelined him from the rest of the story. If Kid was given the same portrayal as Drake in sabaody, I guarantee there wouldn't be nearly as much bitching from people.

Kid is only disappointing because Oda failed to fulfill the portrayal he gave Kid on introduction.

I don't really get the Kidd hate


Imo he was impressive during the whole raid, people just assume that since he uses metal he can't damage any yonko and think he's underwhelming because of that reason which is plainly wrong


He can crush his opponents and cause internal damage which makes his abilities even more impressive

And I really liked his lines during this fight "even mountains can be worn down by rain"

I don't see him as luffy's rival because luffy at this point is on his own league, but Kidd was a really good character during this raid

And his awakening opens many possibilities that people completely overlook like repelling attacks or increasing the speed of his own attacks

This was the issue that we, as fans, were discussing. Now, anime YouTubers have also had enough and they are highlighting what is going wrong (because Oda is not keeping up with the hype he created).

The arc after Wano can make or break OP fan following and reputation. Or maybe it is already too late.

Kid was already hated in Shabondy? I was not hanging out on the forums at that time Most people who want to prove that Kid isn't stronger than anyone else are Zoro fanboys in general.

After I find that Oda put too much hype on the character of Kid and failed with this character.

As I said I was really young, not active on forums, but curious enough to go check them on the Web sometimes and believe me when I say that Worstgen is kind in comparison lol.

As of now it's not just Zoro fanboys, same goes for Sanji fans, Luffy fans etc... It's not a matter of fandom but a matter of reading. Being part of a fandom can influence only to a certain degree.

How is he not close to Luffy? Fighting against someone that's even stronger than Kaido atm.

Are you all really forgetting how the 5v2 on the roof was slowly exhausting the most powerful fighters of the Alliance side?

Ok makes sense. Nice Blackbeard is my 2nd favorite character. Anyway to answer your post, I don’t agree with peoples “disappointment” because 1. I think many fans aren’t actually disappointed, 2. They are just mad his fighting style isn’t what they wanted, and 3. he’s standing up to and looking like he can win a 2v1 against a whole Emperor lol. Don’t see how you can be disappointed in Kidd unless you had unfair expectations in the first place.

I wouldn't say he is becoming a supporter of Luffy. He knows if Big Mom goes to the roof, it's a wrap. I still think he is gna try and snake Luffy by stealing Robin. He obviously respects Luffy's strength but he is still aint a believer like every other Luffy fanboy.

My only issue with Kid is his lack of haki, I just wish Oda focuses on that like he did with Luffy. I like Luffy but damn can his rival get a sky splitting moment and some other cool haki shit.

As for character statement, these guys stay capping half the time. Luffy said he was gna take down Jack and every one of the Yonkos but we both know that was horseshit. But to be fair to Kid, Wano still ain't over so he still could take Kaido's head.
