At this point there hasn’t been any real progress, things gonna heat up during the resolution process. That is when we will be able to see who’s joining for real. Other than that, I think Carrot’s close to finished at this point honestly barring some last minute development which seems very unlikely even if one had the utmost optimism. Like I said, we’ll have to wait until the fights finish but Carrot’s been a long shot ever since her introduction and she hasn’t done anything to move the sticks other than being a good fit. That’s what has precisely kept in her in these talks all these years, she hasn’t done anything in Wano that would be expected of a potential crew mate. Being MIA for large portions of the arc and not doing much vs Perospero- the only time she could’ve shined as a character much less as a recruit isn’t cutting it.

That leaves Yamato as badly written as she is... as the only viable option left on the table if we are getting a crewmate by the end of this long arc.

Yamao's chances pretty much went straight out the window with her df reveal, concept info and zero crew interaction. All the other stuff is just overkill.

Also agree about Carrot. Still possible, but has to happen soon and be significant. All stuff that's within reason for her story, but the window is rapidly closing.

After Wano? Not a snowball’s chance that would occur, if she’s joining that’s going down by the end of the arc. She’s been looming around as a side character for far too long to justify a fourth arc for further “development” that isn’t even needed to begin with. Not to mention after Wano, the story is entering its ending saga. Too much endgame material on the table for panels to be wasted on Carrot at that point when Oda hasn’t bothered to give her worthy screen time in Wano.

Of course there is a chance, that exactly what happened for Robin and Nami. Setup during the joining phase and a development after the fact down the line.

Far too long for you is only 30 minutes or so for Carrot and the strawhats. In the diegetic world, this is nothing and trust me that Oda knows that.

Carrot don't need a full arc she only need a few chapters focused on her. Remember the development of Brook ? Well people tends to think that Brook was developped during the entirerity of Thriller bark, when this is is fact pretty wrong. It had a bit of development during the arc (you can compare that to Carrot's development during whole cake) and 3 and a half chapters of real development (flashback and all) a bit of 486 - 487 - 488 & 489

Momo’s a viable option. Not as likely as Yamato since she’s got the multiple going out to sea declarations, but it’s not a great leap of logic to see Momo being required to go with Luffy to Laugh Tale like his dad did. The aging-up process killed the big anti-Momo argument, him being a child.

2. That's wrong on so many level. First because Pekom is still a background character and is not as close as Pedro as Carrot was. So no.
3. The apprentice position has been introduced through Shanks and Baggy, it has NEVER been foreshadow for the strawhat in any way shape or form.

Nothing that Carrot has experienced would be possible with any other crew. The strawhats are build for Carrot and Carrot is build for the strawhat.

Her ghost ability has limited range. A look out must be able to see very far (sometimes 50 km ahead) only someone with good eyes and an amazing capacity for noticing ennemies and being very high is capable of that. That's nowhear near Perona's range.
Plus Carrot is not only lookout, she is also sentry, meaning that when she scout, she attacks. That's the whole point of chapter 888. Perona is incapable of that.


And that without mentionning the fact that Perona is tide to Moria or Miwhak wereabouts, there is absolutely no reason to see with the crew or having her join the crew.

It's like saying that Sabo will join.. this is completely impossible.
