All this will lead to is bad writing where Kaido has no reasons to not kill Luffy for good after he already said in 1013 that he made a mistake by not taking his head as a trophy
Actually it's decent writing because he killed the old woman who allowed him to win before with Oden. Likely he beats down the CP-0 agent before deciding on what to do with Luffy (if he just doesn't get back up).
People have to realize that all of this is really just leading to a break in the fight where Kaido's flashback can happen and for Luffy to get his hyped up awakening that has been teased since 1037 now.
It's been teased. Luffy got FS and a new G4 form in the same arc. It's inevitable he gets a new mode/form. Plus it's been set up by the Gorosei already

It entirely depends on what happens. Luffy trained for the CoA. CoC came by virtue of his CoA training. That's it.
Awakening might not be because luffy doesn't anything. It might be because it just awakens in an extreme diff fight for Luffy without his knowledge. Maybe this is Luffy's "hollow/9 tails" moment, where the protagonist gets an uncontrollable powerup. Oda has never used the trope before. He might do it now
