Ya i am really concerned regarding india.
I have extended family in india , we know indias health care is something to look at but i think india has good leader . I personally like modi but people here in UK think india is like slum dog millionaire (Colonial hangover) . I know fewgood doctors there they think lockdown is only option for india.
Colonia hangover? Lol
India has various sides to it. We have rich class and vibrantly middle class. But we also have huge numbers of people living Below poverty and in lower income strata.
Virus in India got spread due to negligence on part of few who traveled from abroad.
As of now, virus is restricted to such people and hasn't trickle down to middle and lower income class and that's why we have very low number of cases.
But if it trickled down then our health care system could get overwhelmed resulting into fatalities.
Best thing is GOI acted very swiftly.
You can understand like this...india as a whole has 420 cases.... but State wise, out of 28 States and 8 UTs, only one state has 50+ cases.
And, now States are going for complete lockdown(my State has 28 cases and is already under lockdown) along with increasing testing facilities and quarantine facilities...even youths are going out are practicing social distancing as governement has banned gathering of more than five people.
In districts, with high number of cases, massive screening are going on with complete lockdown and sealing of borders.
And, for people who are daily wage labourers or are poor, States are taking initiatives to provide them food packets everyday for two months..
With Summer coming by(if heat works on virus) and with such measures we should be able to contain the virus....
So we do have adequate arrangments and very high quality infra in place. Problem is huge population base and high population density that can overwhelm our health care services..
if things didn't go well then we will be seeing massive crisis. One estimated predicts that nearly 20 crore people could be infected...so you can understand why India acted so quickly.
