Coronavirus : Pandemic Alert

To be honest I don't know if people will change yet as a nation we will have, the whole world will have, to rethink a lot of things from scratch and the attention we put in our healthcare is paramount. But of course as per usual every politician will speculate on it, people will just listen to what politicians say without trying to look at the facts behind the words and it will not change that much.

The real problem is that when all this will end we will have another economic crisis and since we are already weaker than other europeans countries in that side we will have to make new cuts to the national balance so less instruction, health care, welfare.. I don't see a very bright future either way.

With Italy I think the worst is about to over .

With complete shutdown, rate of community transmission is checked.

As of now they have nearly 60k cases with nearly 7000 recovered and around 5400 deaths(mainly old age)

Out of remaining 46k cases, around 5-6% are critical..rest are doing fine.

All hope that by April end they recover well

Yes indeed.

It seems the 60K number is not accurate too. Because instruments to test people are over in some zones, and a few people didn't test themselves either way. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of infected people could pick near 100K right now.

Yes and no, I mean I agree that people once this is over will just explode out of their houses like nothing happened or be a little worried at first but in the long time we will back to the usual life we had before the virus yet the system imo has to and will take some sort of precautions to avoid, or at least limit as much as possible, what is happening now to happen ever again. To make an example in Italy smart working was almost non existent before the virus now all the schools are using it, platforms are adapting to it and teachers too so at least this will mean a big jump in this direction, which is positive, for the italian system. Same goes for the health care, the system will have to change also the production of safety measures (like the masks) which was based in China/Asia until now and that will change as well to avoid shortcomings (France had something like that), most likely even the whole relationship between the west and China will change. The closest thing to this will be to look at the USA before and after 9/11 and the comparison is still weak since this is at least a magnitude above.

Also, maybe not for the youngest but the personal relations between people will change. In Italy it is pretty much a tradition to kiss or hug people, never liked that anyway XD, and that will most likely change since the huge blow everyone is experiencing now and considering this will last at least an year or 2. Time we found a vaccine and give it to everybody we will have other cases here and there which will undoubtely scare the shit out of people again. So maybe in the most considerate and older thil will remain like some sort of mini PTSD.

Maybe we reached the spike for deaths 2 days ago (760+) now it seems it is going down but it is important to keep our guard high so to keep up the restrictions. Anyway the quarantine will last probably until may or june at the very least, most likely a weaker one but still a quarantine. Schools for sure will reopen in september (if everything works well).

Systematic changes might be possible but individual behavior? No way.
Some "experts" claim people will not forget about this for all their life and they will completely change, belief in humanity still not lost...

How is the curve in your countries right now?

Italy might have approached the peak. We hope so.
Where Italy was in third week of feb.

If situational didnt go well then india Will witness massive fatalities surpassing Italy.

Infact, in South Asia people already banking on summer very high temperature which is about to come by April mid (35 deg Celsius +) which can reach upto 43-45 deg Celsius.

So, if this high temperature and Governmental steps of shut-down (youth are still on roads taking things casually) failed then we will peak in next two months with unprecedented fatalities

Ya i am really concerned regarding india.

I have extended family in india , we know indias health care is something to look at but i think india has good leader . I personally like modi but people here in UK think india is like slum dog millionaire (Colonial hangover) . I know fewgood doctors there they think lockdown is only option for india.

I think rest of the world are in alert the cases will drop hopefully.

The media did good job creating needless panic neverthless there are drug trial ongoing. Pretty much C19 is the answer to counter this virus .

Things will go stable in italy in couple of weeks. However world has learnt lesson most of them were lax on public health care.

Also i feel WHO should make statement on media neutrality and causing panic. Other day i went to buy food the food mart where over crowded . Amount of people buying toilet paper frightened me than virus.

Colonia hangover? Lol

India has various sides to it. We have rich class and vibrantly middle class. But we also have huge numbers of people living Below poverty and in lower income strata.

Virus in India got spread due to negligence on part of few who traveled from abroad.

As of now, virus is restricted to such people and hasn't trickle down to middle and lower income class and that's why we have very low number of cases.

But if it trickled down then our health care system could get overwhelmed resulting into fatalities.

Best thing is GOI acted very swiftly.

You can understand like this...india as a whole has 420 cases.... but State wise, out of 28 States and 8 UTs, only one state has 50+ cases.

And, now States are going for complete lockdown(my State has 28 cases and is already under lockdown) along with increasing testing facilities and quarantine facilities...even youths are going out are practicing social distancing as governement has banned gathering of more than five people.

In districts, with high number of cases, massive screening are going on with complete lockdown and sealing of borders.

And, for people who are daily wage labourers or are poor, States are taking initiatives to provide them food packets everyday for two months..

With Summer coming by(if heat works on virus) and with such measures we should be able to contain the virus....

So we do have adequate arrangments and very high quality infra in place. Problem is huge population base and high population density that can overwhelm our health care services..

if things didn't go well then we will be seeing massive crisis. One estimated predicts that nearly 20 crore people could be infected...so you can understand why India acted so quickly.

Where in India are you from?? I'm from M.P and we have total 5 cases here... The 4 people who were reported positive 2 days ago, travelled here from some foreign country.
Although, Don't you think that if people who were arriving from western countries which are in a very bad state due to corona, such as Italy were isolated for 14 days, this pandemic could've been stopped from spreading??

I am from Rajasthan.

All cases in India came from abroad. Foreigners have limited contact here and their impact on spreading virus is limited. So yes few cases definitely came up from them but it was still not much of deal.

problem came up when Indians who after traveling from abroad didn't go into 14 days of isolation..... it's Just negligence on their part which costed us so badly.

And, it's not just their negligence.

China negligence in the begining regarding info on virus put Europe into bad state...

And, then Europe delayed response put other countries into bad state.

Corona recently knocked in Africa... this virus would cause Havoc in African countries...

And all because we haven't learnt a single damn thing from Sars, swine flu and Mers epidemic.

True that, if people would've just quarantined themselves in their home, it wouldn't be such a mess... Right now situation is under control, but if shit hits the fan, and in a country like ours with so much population density, it going to be a nightmare.

Well cannot say about how heat works on virus but it will minimize the spread . Also beware some gullible US Medical lobby will tempt people to buy their the kit . I would say healthcare should not be overwhelmed .
