General & Others Oda admits everything before now was filler

Jokes, aside, Oda ain't literally saying One Piece means nothing, he's spent years writing this story so it gets to this important stage, he's just promoting the final stretch.
Not even the first author I've seen say stuff like "hop into the story" even in the middle of an arc a thousand chapters in, I recall Hajime no Ippo covers saying similar stuff (just checked it was the 30th anniversary). It's just a means to promote the series and hype up the current stuff which isn't all that strange for a long-running series. Not that everyone criticising it is serious but like, some posts seems a bit too serious.
I'm just trying to emphasise that Oda isn't straight-up saying One Piece means nothing and everything is unimportant (which would include pre-timeskip, not just post), just that we're nearing the end and everything prior to this was in a way to set up the end (of course what came before wasn't solely for this but it's a story and it progressed in a way that what's been set up will be concluded).

That's not what that was in reference to. That was directly for the post I quoted. I'm talking about instead of trying to shutdown my comment about that's how stories work in a constructive way, you default to "Omg, Oda white knight dick sucker!". I'd be more than happy to engage in an actual constructive debate regarding my comment, but when the rebuttal is the adult equivalent of "I know you are but what am I", every single damn time, then I don't give a shit what you have to say.

When you open with "Einstein", and proceed to try and lecture me that setup and filler are mutually exclusive, when we all know there is a hidden agenda behind your usage of the word "filler" here, then you will be met with the same condescending tone. You're clearly using the word to get a rise out of people, when nothing in Odas comment suggests it. Filler is what the anime does, and it has absolutely fuck all to do with the overall story of the manga it is adapting. Sure Oda said you can start reading the story here, but the trade off is you won't get the same pay off of the big reveals by experiencing the setup of everything he's been building towards. You can start now, learn all the big mysteries and reveals, and that's fine in his eyes, because that's what he's been wanting to show to his readers for decades. That is not him saying "yeah all that other crap is filler, it doesn't matter", which is what you're trying to suggest here.

For me, I know I didn't waste my time. I've had a blast experiencing this story from the beginning. I've loved making all the theories I have, reading other people's theories, the debates, and meeting all the people who share the same passion along the way. The story has had its up and downs, highs and lows, and is not perfect, but it's been a hell of a ride, and I've enjoyed every second of it. You gotta take the bad with the good. Not take all the bad, and act like it should cancel out all the great moments this series has given us.
