Jinbore does nothing other than acts like a follower. Of Tiger, of WG, of Big Mom, of Whitebeard to finally settle his whole existence into worshipping Luffy. Which he btw left his crew for. He keeps switching alignments faster than epilepsy.

His sole existence is to keep saving Luffy's life for no apparent reason other than being there. That is why he's recruited.

Now Yamato isn't the best written character, but there's space for her to grow and she would fit in with the crew cause she actually has a personality and is fun.

Jinbore is like... Personality-less old man (in comparison to the rest of the Strawhats) who doesn't really fit in with the rest. We could say the same for Brook, but at least he's got a bone body yohohoho
Yamato is written far FAR worse than Jinbe. Yamato is a copy paste afterthought while Jinbe still has mystery to him and space to grow in regards to his childhood which I believe we will get more details of his past as well as Brook's. Yamato does not have that type of set up. Only real mystery to Yamato is who is Yamato's mother.

To all the people who fooled themselves with headcanon about how Yamato would get her character development after she joined, and that are now asking what was the point of her character if she doesn't join:

That doesn’t mean he has space to grow or develop lol, just that there’s more shit to cram up in his past. He’s staying his boring self.

And not really, Yamato is a unique character to Oda, she wants to embody someone else. That allows a lot of space for her progress and self development.
