Akainu probably can do the same thing and is the more competent fighter/military strategist, hence why he's Fleet Admiral

This is why I think if he's Luffy's opponent, it's going to be Katakuri 2.0, except Luffy has to actually master FS instead of just learning it.

He chose Luffy defeating Kaido instead of Zoro killing him. Cleanly cutting through Kaido's neck is another story than being stomped through earth's crust by an island sized Kong Gun and taking a bath in Magma for an unknown period of time. Though yes, obviously, Magma, especially when used as a fist to propel through the opponent like Akainu does, is among the most lethal. Though Aokiji freezing you from the inside out is a certain kill and ignores durability. It also negates the ocean basically by freezing it, which is an incredible advantage.

Man, stay real. Even base Luffy was able to fight with Hybrid Kaido, even base Luffy partly overwhelmed Kaido. When Kaido started to go seriously all out, only then we saw that Luffy ultimately stands no chance, until Joy Boy absolutely played with an all out Kaido. Kaido managed to fight his way back into an equal fight but eventually Gear 5 was just too powerful and destroyed Kaido within minutes.

There is no way in hell, a non Top Tier character is able to fight and clash with Joy Boy. Its not only about Feats here, in this chapter Lucci was portrayed so immensely powerful that Luffy saw the need to use Gear 5 (he never uses more than needed in fights) on Lucci - and we know after Wano that Luffy even without Gear 5 is a Low Top Tier. Not only that, the reaction from the crowd was another portrayal feat: Jinbei running, Sanji sweating, Vegapunk talking about the absurdness of power Devil Fruit users hold while we see Lucci and Luffy in an equal powerful clash.

Yes, base Luffy was able to fight against Hybrid Kaido. That was because of his ACoC.

He's not using that power against Lucci. It doesn't appear Luffy is using any advance haki against Lucci. ACoC makes a big difference because how much it increases a character's power. Base Luffy went from losing a clash against Ulti to splitting in the sky against Kaido because of ACoC.

G5 does increase his base stats but it doesn't automatically put him above G4 level. It just put some in a state where he can use that type of power without needing to enter G4 mode.


In my opinion, the reason Oda had Luffy use G5 was to show it off to his crew and Dr Vegapunk. Not because he needed to use it against Lucci.

Kizaru's DC is completely useless here. It's hard to see how he can do serious damage here.

To be fair this might just be Oda toning down the toonforce in comparison to reveal vs Kaido in which I think it was greatly over done.

That's why alot of fans were worried that Luffy fights will going forward would lack tension. Regardless its a feat for our boy to casually ignore toonforce

I won't say it was tone down , we just get less panels of luffy doing stuff compare to his kaido fight .
The longer the fight goes on the more crazy stuff luffy \Oda will do that is a given .

It makes no sense to have Kizaru defeated now. If he gets defeated, he needs to be replaced because his hype is gone for the battle against the Navy.

Honestly Luffy vs Kizaru could potentially top Luffy vs Kata in choreography. If it happens that is. People think we just got out of a fighting arc but if we are really in the final saga, might as well do it, start it by defeating an admiral, Law already engaged Blackbeard in a fight.

But it's unclear the direction of the arc yet.
