This feels like an apt time maybe to share some Tashigi greatness too:

PW3 made Tashigi look so amazing at combat, its honestly inspiring! Makes me happy to see her treated so well, so respectfully!

Hi everyone, Den here. I haven’t been around much since I was on holiday, but I was very much saddened to come back and hear about Kiri/Emily’s passing. Some of you may know that I was (and still am) writing a fanfiction series on AO3 based on a timeline 20 years ahead of chapter 1. I would like to write a scene for Tashigi in Emily’s honour, something that captures who the character is and how she would have changed the marines.

My current idea is that Tashigi, 20 years post-Marineford, is a vice-admiral and the head of the newly formed Special Crimes Division. This division focuses on crimes against children and crimes committed by navy and government employees. Her status in the marines is similar to that of Chaton and Momousagi, being a respected senior figure and a powerhouse sitting just beneath the three admirals. I chose this role as I think that much of her arc involves witnessing corruption and wanting to make changes because of it. I think Tashigi would want to make concrete change and prosecute those who hide behind the government’s name to commit crimes, instead of doing… whatever it is that Aokiji does. I think she’s far more proactive than he is.

I have to admit that prior to this, I have never been a Tashigi fan or understood her character that well. I hope that this portrayal captures the essence of who she is and if not, I hope you’ll tell me so I can do her justice. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you all soon.

I think it sounds like a perfect future job for Tashigi. :goyea:

That's a really great idea! I'd read it in a heartbeat! The Marines desperately need someone like that in leadership. Is she still a sword nerd when she's older? :amazing:

Yeah she still loves swords but after 20 years she’s matured somewhat and doesn’t obsess as much about taking meito from criminals. She’s more interested about protecting ordinary people and holding her fellow marines to account. There seems to be almost zero oversight in the current OP world so she formed a branch within the marines to do just that. Meanwhile Smoker, one of the admirals is cleaning up corrupt marines in the blue seas like captain Nezumi from Nami’s village. The current fleet Admiral is Coby and he trusts the Smoker and Tashigi duo to improve accountability and restore trust in the marines where it’s needed most.

Sounds good DDM, I can't wait to read it. Also, I'm sure Emily would appreciate the passion you put behind your projects, especially when they involve Capt Glasses.

This is honestly fantastic Den Den, I'm very certain Kiri would have been honoured. I love the detective angle and how much you gave Tashigi hype in authority and strength too. Also her motivations/ideal here. This is exactly what Sword should be and I would love have loved Tashigi to spearheaded it given her absolutely love for swords too and her strong morals and heart of gold/innocence.

The G5 Marines risking their lives and trying to sacrifice themselves to save Tashigi against her wishes/commands at Punk Hazard was such a profound and beautiful moment too. Really speaks volumes on how Tashigi is loved and in a way, it also parallels/reflects how much we adore Kiri too ofc.

There are various side characters in OP who really make up the heart of OP itself, including Tashigi, Smoker and Koby and they make the Marines look so much better too, from a moral/ethical standpoint too.

I pray somehow, Tashigi gets to see the end of One Piece and whatever "Goda" has in store for Tashigi in future too. Need to find a way to trascend to the Heavens and get copies of One Piece delivered to Kiri up there somehow lol.

We sadly lost someone who was irreplacable, priceless and thus a precious, unique life.

I knew her and yourself from Oro Jackson back in the day as well as @Buusatan94 too. I didn't speak to Buu on there but I remember seeing them come up a lot in threads too. You had the Monet and Sugar sitting in yukatas as your pfp I think Buu?
I was going by a completley different name on OJ so I don't know if you guys would even remember me on there lol. But I remember really enjoying reading your posts on there too.

I just wish I had spent more time interacting with Kiri and getting to know her more on here too, like how we used to talk on OJ about Zoro and Tashigi back in the day. Now that's she gone, it really does make you mourn on how much more you could have done for and with someone.

Kiri was truly one of a kind and losing her is truly devastating. She brought so much value, joy, intelligence, maturity, kindness and such to the communities she has been part of, including here ofc.

Also OMG, I didn't even check your tags but I was in there! Thanks for tagging me anyway!

I'm sorry for Kirinigiri. I wish all the best for her soul in the afterlife.
But what make her death even more sad,is how likely it is that both her wishes for Zoro and Tashigi will never come true.
Shitty Country Arc made it obvious that Lolda will forever be a disgusting misogynist,as the arc's set of female characters reached a new level in being a dumpster and there was not a single callback to Kuina's story. At this point, what Koshiro said is a truth set in stone (Only in the universe of this shitty comic,of course.)
And even Zoro, who was one of the very few characters to who Lolda used to give everything, started to get shit treatment.
Zoro's character has become all about being Condom-Boy's best lackey. Even @Gauntlet has accepted that this is what will make Zoro's name reach heavens.
At this point, expect Tashigi to have all her issues fixed the next time she appears is set yourself up to disappointment. For Lolda, everyone and everything in Shit Piece's universe is nothing but a tool for Condom-Boy's embellishment.
I ain't hating on a character in his own fanclub. I am being realistic. I once like this comic but Shitty Country Arc destroyed all my love and excitement for it.
