they barely managed to beat algeria (2-1 extra time) and france (1-0). back in the group stages they were extremely lucky to get a 2-2 draw against ghana (and a smashing 1-0 victory against the true football giants - the USA). in all those games the german NT were mediocrity personified.

All of those teams were playing great. If you watched the games it wasn't the German's playing abnormally bad, just other teams playing out their minds.
