He might be just a General at the moment. Lol. He hasn't been confirmed to a a GG or not. That "hero" thing also doesn't mean much as far as I can tell since I saw a different translation that replaced the word "hero" with "valiant". Seems they were describing his general character more than referring to him by a particular epithet.
But if Choukotsu comes here than Kantan would be out of security (or don't know if they could another GG as well there) and neither Ousen nor YTW going to slide away such big opportunity.
Ultimately, for all my criticisms of Kan Ki, my biggest one is that Hara went light where he should've gone heavy.
Kan Ki the Beheader, a king among bandits in all but name, should be in command of a more fearsome force and posses a more competent retinue. I wish Hara had modelled him after Griffith from berserker and put him ahead of an army of the strong, the wretched and the depraved. An army of cutthroats, bandits, berserkers, tribesmen and assassins. A collection of the most gruesome and most violent, who only know strength, only fear strength, and only follow strength.
His inner circle should have feats and skill that justify stats like this:
Code:
Kan Ki STR 94 LDR 94 INT 97
Rai Dou STR 91 LDR 88 INT 84
Ma Ron STR 80 LDR 90 INT 91
Koku'Ou STR 87 LDR 87 INT 89
Rin Gyoku STR 88 LDR 86 INT 88
Zenou STR 97 LDR 65 INT 55
Shu Ma STR 92 LDR 82 INT 87
Hara had a lot creative space to give Kan Ki a more unique army. It's a shame he didn't.
Makou didn’t have a weapon in his hand, he was defenseless.
I guess this makes sense because Riboku hasn’t fought or seriously trained for years. We interpreted Hara’s hype of him incorrectly, Hara was just trying to hyle Riboku as someone who had frontline experience fighting as a warrior, not that Riboku was going to be some legend with the sword or some shit lol.
Pretty much. I mean if Riboku was going to be one of the top fighters in close quarters too that would’ve been too overpowering considering how he’s one of the goats if not the goat when it comes to the strategy/tactics game. Makes a lot of sense how guys like Ringyoku or however you spell his name can overwhelm him like that even then he still held his ground enough to not suffer any heavy blows, even while he was at a disadvantage the second time Kanki’s commander attacked on horseback. Nothing to really be disappointed about there. I still think Shin could get that 1v1 with Riboku in the end, even if we all know the outcome just for closure.
If Kanki really going to come face to face with Riboku here than it would be most epic scene of this arc. There'll definitely be some dialogues and those will be too good.
I agree generally but numbers don't mean too much if a commander decides to duel another.
The fact Kaine survived TWO shots to the chest has me convinced Hara doesn't intend for this victory to cost Ri Boku a great deal, whether it ends Kan Ki or not.
I'm really surprised that Enkan has seemingly survived tbh.
If this is the end of the Kan Ki Army, and it sure looks like it, I don't think Koku'Ou outlives Kan Ki for long if, if at all. If she doesn't die, she'll go into exile. Rin Gyoku seems like the kind of type Mou Ten would recruit to his cavalry-first Gaku Ka Army. Ma Ron will join Shou Hei Kun's service.
I'd love your idea, but as a theory, i can't buy it until we see the commander in question build a relationship with Mouten beforehand. As of today, Ringyoku and Mouten have zero between them. Perhaps Mouten may swoop in, save the day and a bond can be forged that way.
Maron joining SHK would be interesting but I don't see it. There's not really anything between them. Maron isn't even famous either, so it's not like SHK will look at his name and want him on board.
It would be interesting to see where he goes, though.
1. 3v2 seems a bit much. I think Hara will stick with Ousen vs Riboku and YTW vs SBS as the main conflicts.
2.
It think it will be repeat of history where Zhao's incompetency leads to them repeating the same mistakes back at Chohei, where the supreme commander gets discharged (Renpa/Riboku) in the process of facing their opponents (Hakuki/Ousen), and will again replace them with a lesser general. It will be the son this time as a form of twisted comedy to show how they never learn from their mistakes, and in pure irony are the ones to bring their own state to ruin.
