Whitebeard? Never showed awakening or any evidence of it.

Kaido? Never showed awakening and actually seems more like a primarily haki based fighter than a devil fruit one.

Big Mom? Never showed awakening.

What gives? This trend doesn’t make sense.

Yes Shanks became Yonko without a DF, Kaidou become known as Strongest Creature without Awakening, WB rivaled PK & became Strongest Man without Awakening, Roger became PK without DF, same for Rayleigh, Mihawk, Garp ... etc

They would be too powerful with them. Imagine BM's awakening , she would have island level homies.

Kaido would be too op with awakening when he already have island level fire magma mode.

WB can be confirmed as an awakened user later on

The yonkos aren't really important for Oda

So katakuri is more important than yonkos

They are too powerful for a power up like that, Oda couldn't properly handle them without awakening, so he tought to limit their strength. The awakening is more of a power up for weak characters, like the supernovas, commanders, possibly Admirals.

With Big Mom perhaps it's because she's "selfish" in how she handles souls, while the person who dreamt of the fruit wanted to give life to help others

- Whitebeard was a good person, which is an ultimate opposite to his devil's fruits' destroying tendencies.
- Dragons were perceived as deities with unmatched wisdom and intellect. Kaido is anything but wise and intellectual.
- Don't know about Big Mom, honestly.

On the other side:

- Leopards are predators and ultimate killers. Lucci is perfect for this fruit.
- Kaku loves giraffes, so his awakening was inevitable.
- Same with Katakuri. His love for sweets (donuts in particular) is perfect for mochi fruit.
- Doflamingo's fruit is perfect for a manipulative broker.
- Should I really say anything about Luffy, lol.

It's a bit hard to think about Law and Kidd, though. So maybe I ain't right

Whitebeard was awakened ig.
Cuz he was able to use his fruit ability through his weapon (i don't know what it's called, a spear ig). Similar to law coating his sword when using awakening.

And it would make sense becuz old whitebeard was tough challenge becuz he was awakened as Oda restricted him from using haki. If he was using haki Marineford was fucked.

I still believe kaido was 70-80 percent his Haki and remaining his fruit.
for luffy 55-65 percent his fruit and remaining haki.

Kaido's biggest hype was his Durability and being unkillable. That had nothing to do with haki, it was all his devil fruit.
Take away that durability and he wouldn't have been able to take even close to half the attacks that he took. It's basically undeniable.

Kaido's dura also comes from his oni race. Nah not taking Kaen hakkei his DF sucks. His offense comes from him
