Theories are based on expectations and inferences made through demonstrable evidence and qualities previously displayed by the subjects; ipso fuckin’ facto, we can theorize that the Franky-Vegapunk connection was revealed explicitly to foreshadow something meaningful going down between the two once they met, not only because of the specific characters involved but because Oda has a very public track record of indulging the “Shit will happen when these two finally meet” trope throughout OP’s publication. I know you’ve convinced yourself that nobody understands the nuances and subtleties of storytelling better than you, the guy who spends every waking second talking online about a cartoon rabbit hardly anyone else cares about to people who think he’s completely delusional, but whether you like it or not, there was always reason to believe in this even if the author is currently choosing not to give it the spotlight.
This post comprises only 2.5 sentences. Truly a masterpiece

In the science world maybe, but we are in the storytelling world here. Expecting something without setup is problematic for two reasons:
- it create illegitimate expectations
- It blinds you of the actual story being told.

Again. Expecting something without setup is pure BAD work in term of storytelling work. It's just baseless.

You can theorize, but NEVER expect something without REAL setup.

THEORIES ARE NOT REALITY. They are theories, nothing less, nothing more.

Again, you can of course theorize that. But NEVER expect it to happen.

Why do you think I take the Carrot not joining the crew thing so well ?

I applied this core principle : Don't expect without setup.

I don't know about that, I don't know about all of you. But I know that this is something that the majority of the One Piece fanbase doesn't understand. Simply because they don't have the same background that I have.

And this is a real problem that I denounced multiple time: The fanbase (in general) confuse high theorizing works with expectations.

So we end up with a fanbase that - for example - spit on the character on Sanji during the whole cake arc.

Let me explain that:

The totland arc is an arc supposed to make Sanji shine. But for some reason, fan started to theorize on Sanji getting an amazing fight during the arc.
Without
Any
Setup
At
All.

In fact all the setup of the story directed the character arc of Sanji as something more pacific, in opposition to Judge's speech. It's okay to theorize.. but those guys didn't stop there. They actually EXPECTED Sanji to have a fight. And did the end of the arc stopped people from expecting a fight despite Sanji not being a fighterr was going against the very story of the arc? No.

Result: People are still trashing Oda for the treatment of Sanji during whole cake to this day, which has impacted the real value of the arc on the fanbase. Look closely to new fan just arriving, you won't see this trend or with a lesser degree.

The reason behind this is simple: People don't understand storytelling for the most part. They confuse theorizing with "expecting". This is problematic like I showed you with that example. And this happened AGAIN with Zoro during Wano and Franky during Egghead.

Remember: Storytelling is not about what you want. it's about what you need.

wait so u think carrot WONT join!? Even after all the setup we've had about her character fulfilling Pedro's will? correct me if I'm wrong lol

No. There were no setups here. This expectation was created by you fans only.
Not saying that this wouldn't be an interesting approach (I even theorized it after the two year time skip at the time if I remember correctly) but this is just a theory, holding only on potential hints and clue, no actual setups.

We have to be very careful when we talk about Storytelling. Expectations must ONLY come when there are setups involved, not when there are concording clues like Carrot's situation or Franky.

A example of clear setup is for example this :

This is what we call a setup. A direct one.
You mean it is important to work with hints and proofs?

No way! Who said someone needs hints? :noo:

(This is why I said since January that Lucci is joining. You didn't believe me then, even when I came around with multiple hints and proofs.

I mean Lucci would at this point even be considered a good candidate according your own throry with the 12 pillars.

Should I fill it out for him? :myman:)

@Mr. Reloaded you better renege on your bet with a certain someone because i'm not liking this latest chapter.

Also can we talk about who the traitor is since last chapter, because i wanna destroy some nakama trains,

It's so obvious :beanmean:
Who do you think it is? :queenhear::ihaha:

@Warback : By the way - you have the same bet with me, too! Don't forget that even for a second. :beanmean:

I didn't specify energy scientist Sir Yasheen did.

Sure bro here you go
Yasheen said that energy is one thing she would presumably do a lot with due to Vegapunk's dream. You then translated that to "all she can do is research energy" and labeled her an energy scientist. No need for strawmen, you can just say you disagree.

So Oda did something outside your theorized probable possibility? It really doesn't seem that probable then...
Well, Oda is doing something that is out of Carrot's character, this is not something that I predicted.

No.

I mean that no matter the theory you should never expect something out of hints and potential theorizing work. You can theorize but never expect without setup. This is why people are often dissapointed, illigitimately.

Stussy would be a physicist and focus on forms of energy which relates to Vegapunks dream
My response:

That doesn't relate whatsoever to an actual necessity the Strawhats have. The Sunny and Frankies mechs never had energy problems, so she has no use on the crew.
His retort:
You could say the same for:
Jinbe
Robin

Hell you were a carrot fan and straw hats never had look out problems.

Besides the Sunny has had energy problems. Multiple times they’ve been unable to use a coup de boom due to a lack of soda.
The only strawman here is yours, i never even implied she could only be an energy scientist, we were arguing both on energy scientist.
