I really don't see how the Kid Pirates make it out of this when:

1. They're deep in enemy territory, with the coast of Elbaf being completely guarded
2. There's no other island around to wash up on
3. There are no potential allies in the vicinity
4. The non-DF users in the crew are likely unconscious after Hakoku, making them unable to save the DF users
5. The narrator himself stated that this is the end for the Kid Pirates
6. Shanks has much more going for him as a rival to Luffy for the One Piece than Kid does

This chapter was probably written to hype up Shanks even more (as if he needs it lol), remove Kid from the story to thin the competiton for the OP and trim the overall cast, and show the cruel reality of the pirate world.

It's a fleet in the same way Luffy's Grand Fleet is one. Low and midtier characters banding around for one cause. They're not real powerhouses themselves.

Yet he can one shot them. Not even admirals one shot the WB fleet. They were Roaming around till the end.

Kid didn't lose because he is simply incapable of beating yonko. He lost because he was impatient and hot headed. If he trained haki like Luffy did he might have won. Now he has the chance.

It proves that Big Mom was definitely rusted as a top tier. There's no way that she was still in her prime. Now it also makes sense why Kaido called her pathetic when Big Mom jobbed to the supernovas on the rooftop - because in Kaido's view, she has become pathetic.

But Shanks is really built different. Even Kaido can't perform such a feat like that with a single ACoC swing. Unless it's his strongest TB or Ragnarok (not counting Blazing Bagua).

You guys have to stop this BM got weaker nonsense. The BM we saw was the strongest she has ever been. Kaido teasing her with her age doesn't mean there was any prime she has now left behind. BM always told him to watch with whom she's talking.

We know that BM in her thin state was weakened to a point Jinbe could block her attacks and counterattack. The added mass made BM stronger and overall BM was at her strongest state when we've seen her loss.
That she's just this weak is another thing.

Even Vice Admirals know the idea of cooperating with Shanks is ludicrous. Sengoku even says “I’ll take the blame,” which is confirmation that he would get in trouble for allowing Shanks to live.

Sengoku saying he will take the blame from the higher ups means that agreeing to Shanks' terms was discouraged by the higher ups, but Sengoku understood that fighting Shanks would be ridiculous.

Oda had the chance to make Kidd established as a true rival to Luffy right now and guess what, he literally take a shit on him. Its not that he had to beat Shanks, only Miidd's fans thought this could happen but he wasnt even able to defend an attack letalone damage Shanks.

This is not a Crocoboy comeback scenario, Oda made a clear point that Kidd is not up there and there is no reason for him to come back as a PK candidate.
